Hallo O2, can you advise me what I should do with the unauthorised devices that were connected to my hotspot and stealing my data quote (around 14GB)? And also it’s weird that I didn’t receive any SMS from O2 regarding the internet data usage as I usually get 2 SMSes, one for 80% usage and the other when the data is fully utilised. I am now worried about what they did with the 14GB data and if they had downloaded anything illegal from websites like movies / songs etc. I am on 120GB data plan and that’s why I didn’t realise the data was being stolen until I checked my data usage over the weekend as I had no connection at all.

Hi @Monamie80 ,

I would strongly recommend that you change the password for your WiFi hotspot.

Kind regards,
Alex

Hallo Alex, many thanks for the tips and that was the first thing I did when I discovered the unauthorized devices. Unfortunately iPhone doesn’t have a very good setting in terms of preventing unauthorized devices from connecting to my hotspot. My other Android phone allows me to block users. Now I’m more concerned about the hackers using my internet data to do something illegal. 😢

It is not certain that people have done anything illegal. Therefore, do not worry. Since the data volume has been used, you are unlikely to get it back. I can understand that it is annoying. But as I said, don't worry about it.

Dear @Monamie80 ,

welcome to our community. 🌼

@MXP_Alex has already given you an important hint about changing the password.

Have you already removed these devices from your network and blocked the network for unknown devices?

Kind regards,

Andrea
