In order to leave Germany, I am tidying up my accounts and want to be sure I have done so correctly. I have a prepaid account, so I have turned off the autopay from my bank account and added enough funds to my balance to get me through one more cycle. There will still be a few euros left on the balance, but no big deal. Is this correct way to leave O2 behind? How long might this account stand should I return to the EU for holiday in a year or so and want to add funds for a month or two? I assume it eventually just fades away after inactivity.

I see there is mention of a USA prepaid (O2 free ticket) but can’t really make heads or tails of exactly what it is and how to get it. The translations get out of sort, I think. Is this something I might want for the first few days when I return to the US? I see that calls will be a bit pricy while I shop around for new service in the US.

Thanks!

An o2 prepaid card must be topped up every 6 months at the latest so that o2 does not terminate the prepaid contract and deactivate the SIM.

If the o2 prepaid card is not to be used, then you can deactivate all booked options and you no longer pay for something.

You can also take top-up cards with you and, for example, top them up every 5 months on your cell phone or via Mein o2 to extend the use time again for 6 months.

Hello @Expat,

and welcome to our o2 Community 😊

I see that your questions have already been answered perfectly by @tearsbeforecrying.

The charges for usage in the USA is quite high, i.e. 1,59 EUR/Minute for an outgoing call. For more information please see our pricelist. I would recommend a local provider.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Best regards

Giulia
