Terminate my current DSL contract and start a new DSL contract immediately after.

Hi,

I want to terminate my current 50 Mbps DSL contract and start a new 250 Mbps DSL cotract immediately after termination.

It’s a kind of upgrade. Everything else are same. Is it possible? Like my current cotract terminated today and new contract starting from tomorrow?

Please let me know.

Hello @Iftekher ,

in general whether you change your contract or terminate it and order a new one, you should estimate that this process does not happen “over night” but require usually a few weeks. With a termination and a new contract you should also expect that this will not be a smooth transition and some time will be between the deactivation of the old contract and the activation of the new one. Changing the contract is the variant in which you will only have a few hours without internet on the day the move to the new contract is made, if that is of interest to you, then please let us know.

Kind regards, Sven

Hi @o2_Sven ,

Thanks for your reply. I know I cannot expect everything going to be done overnight.

I went to order 250 mbps DSL connection yesterday and saw I can book connection date from the end of next month. What I want to avoid is paying for both contract in a same month. I can stay few hours without DSL, it is not a problem.

So if I can get my new connection from begining of March 2023 and end my existing connection at the end of February then it’ll be fine for me. Also I want to take my land phone number of my existing DSL contract to my new contract.

Another thing is, I’ve rented a router (FritzBox 7490) from O2 for my existing DSL contract, I guess I should return this after terminating, can you please let me know how to return? By post? or if anyone come to setup my new connection can pick it from me?

For my new contract I want to buy a router myself. Can you please suggest a router for 250 mbps DSL? Also I wish to buy AVM FRITZ!Box 7530 AX, is it ok?

Please let me know.

Hello @Iftekher,

that the two contracts overlap should be easily avoidable as you should know the date your old contract ends and you can enter a date that you wish your new contract to start. The date for the new contract can be pushed back depending on how things are proceeding between o2 and the respective line owner, but overlap shouldn’t occur.

The number porting is going to be a bit more complex and will only be possible after the new contract has begun as it is an internal porting between two DSL contracts.

To return your old 7490 you can send it in, the necessary documents to do this for free can be obtained online.

And finally, the 7530 AX will work just fine with a 250 MBit/s DSL contract, so you can definitely buy and use that for the new contract.

Kind regards, Sven

If you're looking to get a new customer discount: The prerequisite for this is that you have not had an o2 DSL contract in the last 12 months. This requirement is obviously not met in your case.
In addition, orders from customers who already have an active DSL connection at the same address are normally cancelled by o2 in order to avoid duplicate connections with duplicate costs.

The way of choice would be to order a tariff change to the tariff you want.

Hi @blablup, give me a reference of this information. I didn’t see it anywhere.

Thanks for your reply. I saw that. This is for new customer. I am not a new customer. I am an existing customer want to buy a new DSL contract. Do I still need to be worried about this condition?

Generally, if the duplication check catches the order, the customer ist first informed about this, and can at that point also contact the customer service to have the order manually forwarded past the check. If that is what is wanted.

Concerning the screenshot that you posted, do you have a mobile contract that enables you to receive the “Kombivorteil” discount?

Kind regards, Sven

Hi @o2_Sven,

Concerning the screenshot that you posted, do you have a mobile contract that enables you to receive the “Kombivorteil” discount?

Yes, I’ve mobile phone contract, which should enable “Kombivorteil” discount for me. If no, please let me know.

@Sächsin: No, I’ve to pay €24.99 for frist 12 months and €34.99 for next 12 months. See my screen shot here again.

The phrasing can be a bit deceiving here @Iftekher as you can be a “Bestandskunde” by having mobile contracts with o2 but also at the same time you could be a “DSL Neukunde” when you don’t have had a DSL contract with o2 in the past 12 months.

Kind regards, Sven

@Sächsin: So far I understand,

  • For first 12 months both new customer and existing customer pay 24.99 €.
  • And for next 12 months, existing customer will get 5 € combi discount which doesn’t apply to new customer.
  • So new customer will pay 39.99 € for next 12 months and existing customer will pay 34.99 €.

@o2_Sven: Please confirm.

@o2_Sven: It impossible for me to be any kind of “New Customer”, because:

  1. I’ve mobile phone contract.
  2. I’ve DSL contract in last 12 months.

I am really, confused now! Please let me know how much I’ve to pay monthly if I buy the DSL contract now.

Hello @Iftekher ,

you would only get the “Kombivorteil” discount, since you do not count as a new DSL customer.

Kind regards, Sven

@o2_Sven: When I can know finally how much I’ve to pay? After the order? Or somewhere in the O2 web site?

The offers in the o2 online shop are exclusively aimed at new o2 DSL customers. It is not expected that existing o2 customers will try to order a second connection, as most customers do not need a second DSL connection.
If the customer wants to change his contractual services, it is normally expected that the customer orders a change of tariff from the o2 customer service instead of erroneously ordering new customer offers (which are not valid for him) in the o2 online shop.

I am a customer, I am looking for what good for me. I cannot confirm or know or have any interest what is the strategy for O2. If the terms and conditions says I can avail the contract then why not?

You can certainly read what is written on the website. Ignoring what is written is your decision, the consequences of which you must bear.

Hello @Iftekher,

blablup is sofar correct. You can order a contract through the webpage, but you’d only get the Kombivorteil a further discount would only be granted in the case that you were a “Neukunde” for DSL, cable or fiber with us. Which you currently do not count as, the easiest way to switch over to the new my Home L would be if you just had us change the contract instead of ordering a new one. You’d have only a minimum amount of time in which the connection would be down and no further hassle with it.

@o2_Sven @blablup: Going through messages from you, is only frustrating for me. One last question to you both: When I’ll know how much I am paying?

I guess O2 is going to send me contract papers immedietly after my order. And how much I’ve to pay will be written clearly in these contract papers. Am I right?

Is there any chance that the conditions can be changed later? If so, do I've any chance to cancel immedietly?
