The router is not gonna (sic) restart, the connection is dropped for a few seconds every 24 hours. You cannot prevent this but you can set the time when it happens, say between 4 and 5 am.

Because it’s part of the contract you agreed to. With a o2 Homebox the 24h reconnection is automatically in the early morning hours. The o2 Homebox has no further settings for that.

If you don’t sleep at night you can use a fritzbox to set the disconnection time as you wish. See manual.

from the o2 terms and conditions:

Bei Inanspruchnahme des Internetzugangs wird jeweils eine dynamische IP-Adresse zugewiesen. Jeweils binnen 24 Stunden kann seitens des Anbieters ein Verbindungsabbruch, auch einer aktiven Internetverbindung, initiiert werden, nach dem sofort eine erneut Verbindung aufgebaut werden kann.

The homeBox is not dropping the line. The PPP Session will end after 24h.

The HomeBox will reboot between (i think)  02:00 to 03:00 and back.

If you would like to have a special time you should buy a fritzbox.

I never noticed my o2 Homebox performing a reboot because of 24h disconnection. Typically the interruption of the internet service because of the 24h rule is about 5 seconds and this is not enough for a reboot.

No, the IP changes each time the router reconnects.

Static IP address is not included in your o2 DSL tariff. Term and conditions:

Bei Inanspruchnahme des Internetzugangs wird jeweils eine dynamische IP-Adresse zugewiesen.

Very odd. My internet connection drops briefly but frequently throughout the day but shuts down completely every morning within a few minutes of turning on the computer. The restart process generally takes between five to 10 minutes while waiting for it to reboot and reconnect.

Hi @Kingharvest ,

do have access to the logs of your modem router? If so, do these provide some more details on whats happening ? Is the PC connected via WLAN or LAN?

Viele Grüße,
Kurt
