I write for information on how to keep my O2 number but move it to a pre-paid card.
Background: I would be abroad (Italy) for some time (to be defined, more than 10 months) and cancelled my contract -- last day should be October 20th.
However I would like to keep using the phone number (calls and messages) while abroad.
How may I transfer my mobile phone number to a pre-paid card and load it with some money (and choose a card profile too).

The meaning of MNP is to move your phone number from one provider to another and not from one contract to another at the same provider. o2 does not offer to move the phone number from one contract to another

A postpaid contract can not be converted into a prepaid contract. To keep your phone number, you should port the number to another service provider.

I'm grateful for your informative and quick answer.
May I further ask: there are cards named "1,5 GB Allnet Flat" for sale at the Rewe, which are of type "O2 my Prepaid S". Are these the alternative to port my old contract number to a new prepaid card, which I would pay per use? Or are these cards still involving a monthly fee to be operative (to receive calls and texts)?
I also saw at Rewe a cheaper "ja! mobil". Is this a better alternative for switching the service provider. (My purpose is really to keep my mobile phone number alive and receiving texts and calls in this one year abroad without any unneeded monthly fees, or at least with as low as possible monthly fees.)

Hi
when you order a new contract, then you can port your current number from the current contract to the new contract. The current contract will get a new number till the end of this contract in February 2023. But, with a Data contract you can´t call someone. Only SMS and internet is activated. Could I help you with this information?
