Hello,

My partner and I have o2 sim cards and we have terrible 4G signals in our mobile devices at home (Address: Helsinkistraße XX, 81829 München).

We have good phone signal for calling but 4G internet does not work (Edge signal available ).There is no issue with the sim cards and our phones since they seem to work well when I take a few steps outside my house. I have a work phone with another network provider and I have no issues with that, so I am certain this is a problem with the signal from o2.

We also have the LTE router with o2 free unlimited Max contract with a very poor internet connection. Two weeks ago (03.02), I contacted the service team and they informed me that there is a techincal issue with the basis station near by and requested me to wait for a few days. Unfortunately, the situation has not improved until  today (17.02).

I am unsure if this issue will be fixed. I waited two weeks for improvement but it is not the case. I would like to cancel the contract, please review and guide me further.

Thank you,

Keerthi

Edit o2_Larissa: address removed for privacy reasons

Another question is, if I cancel  the O2 free unlimited max contract, would my phone contract be affected as I recieved a discount when I signed up for it?

Hi @keerthi.kmr ,

according to the latest messages from our TechDepartment, the error in question is still being worked on. They gave out a possbile timeframe of 5 days, but that is not set in stone, unfortunaltey.

Have you had low receiption in your flat before or was that always the case?

The o2 Free Unlimted Max Contract benefits from the Kombi-Vorteil, cancelling that contract won’t affect the discount of the other contracts.

Regarding the cancellation: Your Unlimited-Contract is not bound to your adress, since it is a regular mobile contract. Tariffs, which are bound to one adress and act as DSL-equivalent are being treated differently from the start (with availability checks) and can’t be booked anywhere. That might be a problem when it comes to the cancellation. Howver, we can’t decide on weather or not the contract can be cancelled or not. You’d need to send in a cancellation letter for that. Our cancellation department will then review your request and contact you via mail or letter.

Best regards,
Kurt

Hello Kurt,

Thank you for your response.

Yes, I have always had an issue with the reception in my flat. Our phone connection signal (calling) works everywhere, however we only have an edge signal for 4G internet and cannot use mobile internet in all rooms of our flat.

Regarding our WLAN connection, we have placed the LTE router where we receive decent signal but the speed is poor. With three devices connected at once to the WLAN, the internet speed is < 1 Mbit/s.

Thank you for the information regarding cancellation, I shall proceed with your suggestion and wait for some positive news.

Best Regards,

Keerthi

Hello @keerthi.kmr ,

being inside a building can have a noticeable effect on the reception depending on your location relative to the broadcasting unit as well as the used frequencies. Things like positioning the router can alleviate these factors, but won’t be able to eliminate them completely. If you are using the o2 HomeSpot as your LTE Router then it would help us if you could post a screenshot of the “LTE-Status” page out of the graphical user interface.

Since you are using WLAN to connect your devices to the router itself, this can also be a factor in the quality of the connection, here it would be interesting to know if there is a noticeable difference when you are directly connected to the router via LAN. Have you ever tested this?

Kind regards, Sven
