Hi @Suna1989,
I'm afraid that's not possible. There is o2 as a brand in the UK, but the company and therefore the contractual partner is different.
I lived in the UK for a while myself. There are definitely good offers in the o2 network there. Above all, it's more practical if you have a number with a +44 prefix.
If you move out of Germany, your contract here can also be terminated early.
Kind regards,
Alex
Hello @Suna1989 ,
welcome to the o2 Community .
If you are moving permanently to the UK, then you should definitely terminate your contract early. If it’s just a temporary move there, you might be fine using your contract for a bit, but with a longer stay you should also consider picking up a UK-based contract instead.
Best regards, Sven
@MXP_Alex Thank you for your reply.
@o2_Sven Thank you for your reply. I thought that maybe it is possible to change the contract to the UK. Because I somewhere read that I have to pay three installments as a penalty! Is it correct?
As already mentioned, o2 Gemany (Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG) and o2 UK (Telefónica UK Limited) are two completely different companies. The early termination is a good will gesture and the “penalty” is now only 1 month.
If you are currently also paying for a mobile phone you should be aware that you will still have to pay the remaining instalments, or you pay the balance early.
Hello @Suna1989,
changing to a UK contract is not possible unfortunately. You can cancel your contract with our online cancellation form. Please chose “außerordentliche Kündigung” and “Umzug ins Ausland” in the dropdowns.
You can also upload a copy of your deregistration certificate there which is required as a proof.
There is no penalty, your contract will then be cancelled within one month.
Please note that o2 My Handy devices can not be cancelled and installments have to be paid until the end of the plan.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Best regards
Giulia
