Using existing DSL Modem for the new contract

Hello,
Apologies for not speaking Deutsch. My roommate moved out of the apartment, and left me Deutsche Telekom Speedport Smart DSL Modem/Router, all connected as it was. The contract was on his name, but it has now expired, and I am without internet. Can I sign new contract with O2 for DSL internet that would be on my name, but using the existing equipment (DSL model), just with new login details? Is there a waiting period after the new contract signig or I can use internet services right after signig (or next day maybe)?

You can of course sign a new DSL contract with us if the old connection has already been deactivated. You can find all tariffs here: https://www.o2online.de/internet-festnetz/. Please pay attention to the different technologies when ordering; we offer DSL, cable connections, fiber optic and LTE as landline connections.

All tariffs can also be ordered without a 24-month contract period.

Telekom's Speedport routers can usually be used, but occasionally cause problems with telephony. Alternatively, you can also rent a router from us.

    @Ivan.R What exactly model from the Telekom Speedport smart? And sure your roommate buy the router and not rented it from the Telekom? Not that a rental router is embezzled.

    Unfortunately, I don’t know if the modem was bought or rented…

    I am interested in “O2 my Home M” DSL tariff. Is it true that after signing new contract I have to wait about two week just to get connected? Can i just get connection parameters after signig the contract, so I can set up connection by myself?

    Unfortunately we can not speed up the process for a earlier activation date. Usually it takes 2-3 weeks.

    @Ivan.R Smart 4 Typ b should work with o2. But I prefer a Fritzbox 75XX (English user interface)
