Hi Everyone,

I dont speak German yet and hence writing in English. I cannot get technical support for activating my new O2 Home Internet connection with my own router (tp-link archer c80 ac1900 mu-mimo router). O2 told me that I donot need a modem and it is already in my apartment building and so I connected the router's WAN port directly to the LAN socket in my apartment.

After my activation date, I got the following details from My O2 HomePage linked to my Router's MAC address:
SIP server
SIP phone number
SIP username
SIP password

With these details, I tried all the following options on my router for configuring:

1. PPPoE
Username - SIP username
Password - SIP password

2. L2TP
Username - SIP username
Password - SIP password
VPN Server IP/Domain Name: SIP server

3. PPTP
Username - SIP username
Password - SIP password
VPN Server IP/Domain Name: SIP server

With every setting, I get only the following message "WAN port is disconnected". I have also upgraded the firmware. But no luck. I'd be really grateful for your help.
Thanks.

Edit o2_Lars: Moved from DSL/Router to English/Broadband

1. PPPoE
Username - Username / DSL[numbers]@s9[2..3].bbi-o2 .de
Password - Passwort

And you need a VDSL Modem. The TP Link is only a router without a modem!!!

Buy a fritzbox 7520 from ebay inexpensive easy installation.

Which tariff do you have and which medium? Cable/DSL/Fiber?
When should the activation have taken place?

This statement is surprising and your router is inadequate, since among other things the telephony is missing:

O2 told me that I donot need a modem and it is already in my apartment building and so I connected the router's WAN port directly to the LAN socket in my apartment.

Hello @denutzerneu and welcome to our o2 community :-)

If a new landline connection is established there are a variety of modems and routers that can be used as long as the used for the connection technical specification is met.

Since you explicitly mentioned a MAC address, I assume that the connection is not established via the telephone landline but over the cable connection instead, is that right? In such a case you normally need a compatible cable-modem/router that supports DOCSIS 3.1. If necessary we also offer an AVM Fritzbox 6660 for rent.

Regards,

Lars

Hello Everyone,

Thank you very much for all your responses. I have got the FritzBox 7430 router. My O2 connection is via DSL. I also updated the MAC address on MyO2 access data page on Thursday.

Based on the setup procedure, I selected O2 as my ISP and configured using the SIP username and SIP password provided on MyO2 homepage as follows.

Zugangsart
Wählen Sie Ihre Zugangsart: o2 DSL

Zugangsdaten
Geben Sie die Zugangsdaten ein, die Sie von Ihrem Internetanbieter bekommen haben.
Benutzername : 4981XXXXXXXXX
Kennwort : pass<SIP Password>

Verbindungseinstellungen

On MyO2 page, following values are provided under My Access data.
MAC address : <Updated to my Router's MAC address>

SIP server: sip.alice-voip.de
SIP phone number: 081XX/XXXXXXX
SIP username: 4981XXXXXXXXX
SIP password: pass<SIP Password>

Even after configuring the above parameters on Thursday, the connection is unsuccessful. The power LED continues to flash for hours but there is no internet.

Please suggest some solution here. Thank you.

I have tried to restart the router unplugging all the cables for sometime and then reconnecting them.

Also reset the router to factory settings and configured the settings again.

But same result. No Internet and Power LED flashing.

This is the error as soon as I test the connection after factory reset and reconfiguring.

Your Internet access data are wrong, these are in "my o2" above the SIP data.

In the router it looks like this:

I only see the below details on the page. Should I reach out to O2 and get these access information ? My activation date was 12th April and I still dont see these on my MyO2 page.

Hi @denutzerneu

As my colleague expectet, you are *not* using a DSL Internet connection (which is established via telephone line) you are using the internet via TV Cable, so you have to connect the router

to the Multimedia Socket (the one you connect your TV with) and you need a special router like the Fritzbox 6660, otherwise you cant use your contract.

Best Regards Matze

Thanks Matze and Lars. In that case, I will try to use the Fritzbox 6660 router via TV socket.

Appreciate your help.
