Hello,

 

I am planning a long trip abroad to Zone4 tariff, specifically in Taiwan. And during this time period, I’d still like to receive SMS and calls on my German phone number, especially for receiving app authentication numbers etc.

Do I need to purchase any additional package to have this work?
And if not, do I only need to turn on Roaming on my O2 German SIM card while I am in Taiwan? Do I need to have the roaming on all the time? In order to save money, I am wondering if it’s okay I just turn the roaming on minutes before I know I am about to receive an SMS or a call from Germany?

@Veronica C. In what phone you exactly want to use the o2 sim. You must very careful that no data roaming will run on your phone.

I am pleased that you want to inform yourself before your stay abroad. Please find an overview on the charges in our special pricelist Ausland und sonstige Services.

Please also check which roaming option is booked for you tarif. With “Roaming Basic” i.e. you would pay 2,49 EUR/minute for outgoing calls and 1,59 EUR/minute for incoming calls. Text messages are 0.39 EUR, incoming text messages are free of charges.

Mobile data use is blocked by default outside the EU. You can book small data packages (50 MB) for EUR 4.99 via text message, but using the WiFi on site is more worthwhile here.
