Phone with o2 simcard stolen - Have to pay 30€ for a replacement?

On Thursday evening I got stolen my phone with my o2 simcard tied to my contract in it. I still have to do the police report as I got quarantined for safety that very night (colleague was feeling bad and had COVID test ).

Thankfully he reported negative so this morning I went to ask for a replacement simcard, and I got charged 30€ on my next invoice.

I mean, 30€ for something which is not my fault is a bit too much! It is literally one month payment for my contract!

Is there something I can do to not pay so much? I got suggested to go to a o2 store with the police report and ask to not charge that on my next invoice, would a thing like that work?

Thanks for your help.

Feel free to bill the thief for the new SIM.

The price for the SIM ist part of the contract.

It doesn’t matter if your house burns to the ground or a terrorist robbed you.

fee for a SIM card is 29,99€ except you have a tariff with boost or a eSim

Wow, and I thought Italian mobile companies were complete trash. Now this is a whole new other level of rubbish phone company with a toxic community.

You two people are the rudest I’ve found so far, shame on you :)

Please learn how to give a proper answer, as It doesn’t matter wether you are the pope or the most important person in the universe, treat everyone kindly.

You are right.

Nearly ever Mobile Network company in Germany will charge you for a new SIM, only in case of defekt they sometimes do not charge.

Have you send a information of the stolen card via fax or letter to O2, as told in the AGB?

Thank you for your answer. No, I haven’t done that due to unawareness, this was precisely my question as not knowing German would’ve made an impossible work for me to read through all the contract while being there at the counter in shop, I thought asking here would’ve made it less time consuming. Do you maybe can help me quoting the informations from the AGB here, if that doesn’t bother you and it’s not too much work? I will try to translate the contract anyways and see where I can find these informations.

Again thank you for your support.

Hi @Revengeic3 ,

sorry to about the theft!

The Information regarding the costs are correct, I´m afraid.

We can only exchange the SIM for free, for a few very specific reasons, i.e. if it is broken within the first 2 years or it is too old to handle all services.

Theft or loss - those reasons are not included, which is why we can´t replace the SIM for free.

Just one more thing: Every member is free to answer any question they like.

Irony or sarcasm can surely lead to misunderstandings - but please keep it friendly :hugging:

Viele Grüße,

Kurt

Thank you, do really appreciate your answer. I guess I have not that much left to do at this point.

I am trying to be as kind as friendly as possible, you will agree with me that answers like “Feel free to bill the thief for the new SIM” and “It doesn’t matter if your house burns to the ground or a terrorist robbed you.” are not that well received, especially if a person is asking for help after getting robbed.

Other than that your reply was exactly what I was expecting and I thank you for your time.

Enjoy the approaching weekend :)

Dear @Revengeic3 ,

thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that we were not able to give you the answer you wanted regarding the SIM card exchange. I hope you were able to get a new (paid) SIM-card in the meantime, so that you can continue to use your tariff.

Kind regards,

Andrea
