if you do not order porting with another provider, nothing else happens. The porting declaration remains stored for one month and is then simply deleted again if we do not receive an order for porting.

Dear O2,
I was/am your customer. my previous contract ends on January 11th, 2023.
I found another tariff for the next 24 months, the provider is again O2. Before signing my new contract I wanted to make sure I could keep my existing number on my new contract. Can you please help me whether it is possible to keep my current phone number in the new contract with O2. If yes how? In fact, this new contract states that it is possible to port a number from the previous provider to the new one. But since my previous provider is the same, i.e. O2, I had to ask you this question before I sign the new contract.
