Contract Termination


Hi,

I have an O2 contract which expires in October 2021. Since I've finished studying, I am leaving Germany for good and going to my home country.

Hence I would like to cancel my contract. Could you please guide me on how I can cancel my contract?

I regret that you would like to terminate your contract. But, of course, I understand your decision. 

 

You have now 2 possibilities to terminate your contract: 

  1. to the end of your 24-month-period: If this is sufficient for you, please send a normal cancellation to us. You can just fill out this cancellation-form
  2. If you like to end your contract before the 24-month-period, you have the possibility to send us a cancellation because of moving abroad. You find further instructions about this procedure here: instructions for a cancellation because of moving abroad

Please choose which possibility is best for you.

I am in a similar situation! The only thing is that I’ve left Germany already. I am more then happy to mail you my application for contract cancellation via international postal service and courier delivery.  But please correct me if I am wrong as I understand you guys accept FAX messages as well (since there is no email address we could send our applications to).  As far as I am aware the FAX number in Germany is: 01805 571 766

I was wondering if you could please confirm how to dial this number while overseas? Do we simply prefix this number with +49 or 049 country code? Are there any area codes we need to put in there? Thank you!

Hi @o2_Tobias @o2_Ines ,

 

It seem as if O2 DE is blocking this fax number for connections (originating from outside of Germany?) Are you sure it is operational at all? Do you guys keep it on during German working hours only or is it up 24/7? So far nothing I’ve used in New Zealand could send a fax to this number - it is simply reported as blocked.

Did you already try dialling +49 for Germany or using an additional 0 before the telephone-number?

I am not sure why you might ask for my reasons to terminate the contract… As I've mentioned earlier I've left Germany an have no plans on paying you guys 50 euro on a monthly basis for services that I don't need and want any more. I did so for more then 2 years now...

I have to bring to your attention that you haven't answered my earlier question. German prefix number 1805 of the so called shared phone service  most likely won't be available (will be blocked) in majority of countries outside of EU in fact it is probably not available for some countries in EU as well. I would like to repeat my earlier question: could you please confirm that O2 DE Telefonica provides fax number that is reachable from any other country in the world? Alternatively please openly tell us that you can't confirm it.

Also if you are aware of any online fax service that could be used to send a fax to this number it will be very kind of you to share the name or a link with us.

The problem with the postal address in Nuremberg you provide us with - is that this a PO box! So it is impossible to get a signature on mail delivery! I've already sent my documents via international courier services - but there is no way to tell if it has been delivered. And if it was there is no way to tell when it will be processed!

I'll be truly appreciated if you could please provide the actual postal address and the department we could send our request of contract termination to instead of a PO box details that you provide us with - since it is impossible for us to follow up on our mail. Thank you!

oh, sorry, I think I overread the reason for your termination. My fault. :grin:

 

I regret that you have some obstacles with the fax and the letter-address. 

 

At the moment your contract will be terminated on 9th December 2021. I now have forwarded your cancellation-letter to our cancellation-department who is responsible for the cancellations because of moving abroad. I hope they will accept your cancellation-letter and will inform you by e-mail about the procedure. 

 

Please have a little patience and see if you get an e-mail in the next 2 weeks.

I just received a reply from our cancellation-department. They did not accept your normal cancellation-letter as a cancellation because of moving abroad. 

 

So, please use this document: extraordinary cancellation because of moving abroad and send it together with the required documents to the following address:

90345 Nürnberg

 

There is no other address, that is available for you.

Following the enquiries above and given the current situation because fo Covid, is there an email address that all the documents for cancellation because of moving abroad can be sent, rather than a postal address or fax?
