I have a O2 HomeBox 6641 and I experience that the router somehow is limiting the number of clients that can be connected at once. The number of connection should be around 12. I often have to disconnect a phone or something in order to be able to connect another device.
The IP address in the configuration is set from 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.250.
My question is: is someone else experiencing the same? Is there any hidden configuration limiting the number LAN connections or wifi connections? If so, how can I change it?
Regards,
Rui

No and no.
If you use Apple devices: Make sure that you uncheck “Use Private Address”.
Thanks for the answer!

Hi @o2_Tobias,
Thanks for reaching out. I am not sure if that’s the solution yet as I experience this issue even before Apple’s private MAC Address feature. My router is pretty old already (probably from 2014 or so), I do have a pool from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.250 so it shouldn’t cut down on the number of connections around 12 that’s for sure… it’s a bit frustrating when we have people over we always have to disconnect some devices in order for them to be able to connect.
Best regards,
Rui
The production date of your o2 Homebox 6641 is shown on the type plate. In general, the device is quite durable. Do the problems occur mainly with Apple devices? Then I would look for the cause of the problem in these devices. A hardware defect that manifests itself as you describe is difficult for me to imagine.
That’s the thing, I don’t thing is has to do with Apple devices, this is a problem is had been going on already for quite some time. It just happens that we have more devices now and more people coming over :)
Try to reduce the lease time, to the minimum.
good tip! I still can’t understand how that would explain the fact that by disconnecting a device does the trick for anyone else to be able to connect still! but I will try it :)
@rpvilao
did you succeed?
Greetings
@o2_Manga I can’t tell because at the moment I don’t have enough devices to test, but I didn’t do anything besides removing the random MAC Addr from my apple devices, which I believe it won’t do much since I had this problem before Apple had this feature.
