Change of address and moving with DSL possibilities

Dear Service provider o2

I am using your DSL and mobile services since almost last 5 years. I am living in a rented apartment in Leinfelden- Echterdingen ( 70771). I am planning to move to Maichingen, Sindelfingen ( 71069 ). 

What's my options here? Can I keep the same contract and take the DSL with me?

I am contacting you very well in advance as my shifting date is the last weekend of March 2025.

Kindly advice so that I will not be out of connection after changing my address.

@Jayanta Du musst zwingend einen Umzug nach TKG anmelden bei O2 , kann O2 den gleichen Anschluss am neuen Ort schalten bleibt alles wie gehabt.

Kann O2 den gleichen Anschluss nicht schalten steht dir eine  Sonderkündigung zu, und du bist raus, und kannst den neu buchen der verfügbar ist oder einen Anbieterwechsel beantragen

@Anfänger1 many thanks for your reply. For a shifting during end of March, 2025 can I register the move now? Where shall I register the move? Kindly guide.

Hello ​@Jayanta,

It is definitely a good idea to plan your move well in advance, as activation at the new address can take about three to four weeks.

You can easily order the transfer of your DSL connection online: Umzugsauftrag.

The order can be placed up to three months in advance, so you can do it now already.

Alternatively, you can of course also order the move by telephone through our customer service:

English speaking support on 089/66 66 300 81 (Mon. - Fri. 8 am - 8 pm, Sat. 10 am - 6 pm, on workdays)

Please note that you will receive a new landline number because Maichingen has a different area code.

Many thanks for your advice. I have already placed the order. 

I have two more questions. 

  1. Can I take my O2 Fritzbox to my new address and just connect it after the movement of my connection?
  2. Slightly irrelevant but very important - How can I change my email address of o2 community? I have changed my email ID in my profile of Mein o2 , but the O2 community ( profile of this particular ID ) is not moving to the new e mail ID. Instead, it's creating a new profile. It's very important as the previous business email will not be accessible for private use anymore. I don't want to create a new ID, instead just to change the email ID of o2 community profile.

the order confirmation is already on it’s way to you by letter 👍🏻

Please take the router with you, it will not be replaced. You can simply reconnect it at the new address.

You created a new community account with the new email address, so I cannot change it for this account.

Do you agree that I delete the new community account? Then I can change it and you can use the email address for this account.

Thanks for the information. Order confirmation by letter means it will be a physical letter sent by post or a soft copy by email?

You can delete the new community account and then change my email account for this community account. That will be a great help. But how will you inform me? 

I really don’t want to lose this account as there are lots of important informations received during past years. 

Before changing please let me know how shall I log in after you will change the email ID.

Hi ​@Jayanta,

I have deleted your other community account now and changed the email adresse for this account. You probably receive the notification on my answer on your new email adress already.

Your Jayanta-account will of course be untouched otherwise. Also your login to Mein o2 remains the same, the username is either your landline number or the old email adress.

Thank you. 

I have received email and sms ( from 01760001050)  indicating and asking if the proposed date ( March 31, 2025) can be preponed. This is possible by one week only. But to prepone the date what shall I have to do? 

If I do it earlier, will my present connection of my present address remain or it will be closed immediately? 

Depending on your reply I shall decide.

Hello ​@Jayanta,

bringing the date forward is only optional; you don't have to do it if the date at the end of March already suits you.

To do this, you need to read the line ID, which only works if you have already connected a router to the new connection. If I understood you correctly, you haven't moved to the new address yet, so it wouldn't be possible at the moment anyway.

If you bring the date forward, your old connection would also be switched off earlier.

Thanks for your message. I am back in Germany after my very long business trip. My moving date has been finalised on 24.03.2025. The previously booked date of the Telekom technician visit is 31.03.2025. I will be out of Internet for a week. Now the specific question is can this intervention be preponed to 25.03.2025 just next day after I shall move to my new address? 

It's just a question to see the possibility. If there is no chance we keep the previous appointment.

well, if you have a mobile contract with uns we can add some extra GB data volume to bridge the gap until the appointment.

Hello, ​@o2_Giulia I want o inform that as per plan, I have moved to my new address in Sindelfingen on 24.03.25. more than 3 moths ago, on 07th January, you have informed that there will be a hard copy of the order confirmation be delivered by post, but I didn't receive anything at my old address. There will be a visit of a Telekom technician as planned on coming Monday 31.03.2025. Do I need any document? I shall be at home, but I don't speak German language. Do I need a help of a neighbour or the landlord? The O2 Fritz Box ( for which I pay monthly rent, I already took from my old apartment to my new address. Is there anything else that I must do before the technician's visit?
