Warum O2 Service

Several days ago, I start to use o2 my home M (LTE).

When I choose this product, I expect at least 20Mbps of internet speed.

But reality is less than 10Mbps on average.

Especially, it is about 5Mbps on average in the evening, when I mainly use the internet.

It is so horrible... when I watch football game yesterday, the quality of streaming was so unstable. Of course I cannot play the online game.

Sometime, especially in the morning, it shows 16-20Mbps, but it is very short time and I rarely use the internet in the morning. Useless.

It is too slow .......

I think it is worse than 16Mbps DSL.

I expected the internet with LTE is better than DSL ...

but, it is not usable .... so bad.

I will never recommend it to anyone.

Can I change and move to other internet service (cable/DSL)?

Edit o2_Lars: Transfered from DSL/Router to English/Broadband

Hello @jjhyung, welcome to our o2 community :-)

I am sorry to hear that the internet speed you recieve does not meet your epectations.

Depending on what contract you signed and how long it is already running there are several different options.

If, for example it is a new contract that is running less than 14 days and you signed it eitehr via phone or internet you have he possibility to cancel it within this period, you will find more information on the “Widerrufsbelehrung”, which you normally should have recieved by email.

If the contract is already running for a longer time and it is a flex variant you can cancel it within a months notice and sign up für a DSL or Cable internet connection, if available.

If the contract is running longer and it has a contract period of 24 months either we or our customer service may have a look if a change to another technical solution is possible. We also offer support in english.

Please also have a look at our internet availability check if the desired network technology is available at your address, you will find a detailed overview after klicking on the little “i”.

Regards,

Lars

Moin Moin,

LTE is not “better” than DSL…

LTE is a shared medium. like a street. Using many cars the street the speed is low, if less cars on the road the speed is high. So at morning you have a good speed because of a less use of the LTE.

With DSL the speed is like a train. Over all the speed is faster…

If you have 2 year contract it could be difficulty to change to dsl, but wait for a o2 mod..

If you have a flex contract it would be not a big problem...

Thanks for the reply. I’m happy with your comments.

I’ve checked some possible solutions.

But, I found that I need to choose between this LTE wireless internet and DSL 16.

I heard DSL is not better than the current one.

So, I tried to find the best place to get the higher speed in my house.

And the speed is higher than before. It is about 15~20Mbps on average.

Honestly, I’m still not happy with this speed.

And I don’t know whether I should be satisfied with this speed or not.

That’s why, I’m searching for an external antenna to improve the internet condition.

One more question and request.

Is the external antenna effective in improving the internet condition? Even 5Mbps improvement

And I don’t want to make a hole in the house to install the outdoor antenna.

Now I’m planning to buy this antenna and I will put this near the window.

https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Antenna-Magnetic-Verizon-T-Mobile-Netgear/dp/B086JBRQC1/ref=pd_sbs_1/260-8587316-4442049?pd_rd_w=CMAlM&pf_rd_p=840402ae-0fda-4c49-9fb0-db7f87dd6eac&pf_rd_r=C3WSY2J8K0EB48JK2Z78&pd_rd_r=fc51dbac-844f-43f5-b4eb-cbc62af6c994&pd_rd_wg=MWX5R&pd_rd_i=B086JBRQC1&psc=1

I hope it will be effective.

  • I checked my house is placed at the edge of the coverage by the nearest mast.
  • I expect the antenna would be helpful to increase the internet speed although it is small improvement.

Best

Hello @jjhyung,

to be honest, we can not promise that you will recieve a higher speed with external antennas. External antennas will in most cases improve the strength of the signal, if on the outer edge of network coverage you might experience a higher speed. We can just recommend to test if the external antenna improve your situation.

Please keep us updated if you get a higher internet speed :-)

Lars
