Visiting family is unfortunately not an accepted reason to pause the contract. You would have to provide proof that you are going for work or to study abroad. In any case only three months is hardly worth it because pausing the contract costs 30 Euros.

What type of contract is it - data only? If so then you cannot pause the contract.
If it is a mobile phone contract: How long have you had your contract already? How long is a while? What is the reason for your stay abroad?

It's a mobile phone contract. I have had this contract a little above 2 years. Will be away for just 3 months and reason is visiting family.

But depending on which country you go to, you might still be able to use the o2 contract, Minnaphil. Or at least use the contract while being connected to the WiFi.
