I have ordered a new SIM card for the laptop data plan. Can I just order any surfstick or mini wifi or does it need to belong to O2 (is my sim locked)? If so, where do I find this as there are only several monthly paying types on the O2 app and site?

welcome to our community. 
You can choose any device you would like to have. There is no blocking on our SIM cards. But please make sure if you search for a surfstick or a mobile WLAN spot online that the hardware is not branded by German Telekom or Vodafon. All the other products can be used without any restrictions.
