I have a cancelled contract still being charged / Contract cancelled

I left Germany and cancelled my contract, but I’m still getting invoices.

There was a invoice for period 20.07.2021 – 19.08.2021 for 2.9 EUR that did not get charged in my debit account because I left Germany, so I contact customer service, and they said to make a transfer to IBAN with the purpose “Kundennummer XXX Rechnungsnummer  XXX”, and I did, transfering the amount and with the correct information.

Today I received an invoice for the period 20.08.2021 – 19.09.2021 for 6.9 EUR, and I would like to know what is happening, because I need it cancelled for good.

Can someone from O2 help me in this matter? I would not like to leave anything pending on my name.

What information can I provide, what do I need to do in order to cancel it and quit any debits?

I can provide my contract number if needed. The invoice contains the following details:

Hi @doppo,
I just had a look. The invoice for 2.90 EUR is for the pro rata basic fee until deactivation on 21.7. As we were not able to debit this amount, we had to add a charge of 4 EUR for the return debit note. We will debit the total amount of 6,90 EUR from your bank account within the next days. Is your bank account still up to date and does the debit work?
Kind regards
Larissa

Hi Larissa,

Yes, the account has funds to cover this invoice for October 1st.

  • How long does O2 takes to process this debit after October 1st?
  • Is there any way, after that, to get a termination term confirming that the contract is cancelled for good?

Thank you very much for the help.

Hi @doppo,
you should have received a confirmation of termination by mail when you submitted the termination notice. In addition, the invoice will state "final invoice". After the invoice amount has been paid, no further debits will be made for the contract. The debit is given to your bank on 10/1. Whether the debit is posted a few days later, depends on your bank, we have no influence.

Kind regards
Larissa

It Looks like this is the evil way that o2 makes its Money! I got a SIM card (that was apparently free) as a stop gap measure in August. My intenet was fixed in September and I canceled my SIM card contract immediately, 4 months later, I am still being charged 3,22 Euros per month!

Hi @Mwafrika

welcome back.

Unfortunatety the current invoice contains the propotional basic charge of the temporary SIM card. My colleagues will refund it within the next days. The contract has been finished since November 1st 2021.

Greetings

Hello @o2_Manga

Thank you for the speedy response. I got the vaucher. Although I appreciate the refund, my desire is that this information be completly removed from my profile. Once a contract has been expired for more than 3 months, you have no legal or moral authority to keep it, worse still to charge me for the same.

Thank you

Hi @Mwafrika ,

we’ll of course handle the data in accord to what is legally regulated. You can find more information about that topic here:

Hello @o2_manga,
I sent a letter terminating my mobile phone contract in september but I am still receiving invoice of monthly basic fee of 23.89 EUR for September and 55 EUR for October.

Why am I still been charged even when my immediate contract termination request was already acknowledged in a letter from O2 on September 30.09.2022?

Hello @Awase ,
thanks for posting within our community. Feel welcome 💙
You signed a contract with a minimum duration of 24 month. Your cancelation from september will be working for the end of the contrag up from 30th of july in 2024.
Personal circumstances are not a reason for an immeaditly cancelation.
The only reason would be if you left, or leaving the country. When you are planning to move abroad permanently, we have written an article for you with all the necessary hints.

kindly regards.

Hi Michael, I feel so sad to hear this. I signed the contract with extremely minimal information about charges. In fact, I was convinced at the store that my monthly bill was 9.99 EUR but got my first bill around 278 EUR. I also have no idea that my contract continues to run even after cancellation even when the SIM is no longer on phone for 2Months now and I am being charged for over 24 EUR monthly for nothing. Is there a possibility to maybe change myb contract for a lower one because I find paying 24 EUR withou usage every month to be ridiculous? Please advise how i can proceed. Thank you

Hello @Awase i am sorry, but there is no possibility to switch the tarifplan within the first 12 month.
After 12 month you can check in your “Mein o2” Area on the website or in the Mein o2 App if changing the tarifplan is possible.

yours
Michael
