I get the NAT type error (Nat Type 3) on my Playstation 5 since my DSL Plan upgrade with O2, my router is the o2 HomeBox 6742 and here’s what I have tried:

1 - Port Forwarding = all ports necessary for the Playstation 5 to function according to the official support page were added to the Port forwarding on the router settings.

2 - DNS = I used every public DNS available such 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1

3 - System Update = Firmware of the Router and Playstation is updated.

4 - When I use my mobile hotspot everything works perfectly (I get the NAT Type 2)

5 - UPnP security settings = UPnP port forwarding is allowed.

6 - Completely reset the Router with different SSIDs and passwords.

Every other device works perfectly, the speed and ping is also OK, the problem is only connecting to the PSN on the Playstation 5.The most annoying thing is that everything was fine before my plan upgrade, I upgraded my DSL Plan from 50Mbps to 100Mbps a month and now I have this problem.

I have contacted the Chat support (in German) and they said as Playstation is a foreign device they can't do anything????

Several sources said I need to pay a fee to get a "Public Dynamic IP Address” assigned to me? I did not pay this fee on previous plan and everything was fine, the Technical support of o2 did not offer this option as a solution for my case.

Can someone help me to find a solution?
Thanks in advance.

Hello @junior6995,

welcome to our o2 Community 😊

With our DSL-contracts you already have a dynamic public IPv4 (dual stack IPv4/IPv6). So this can not be the reason for your problems.

There could be many reasons for this error, so it is hard to find out. Have you tried to unplug the router for several minutes from power already?

Best regards

Giulia

Yes, I tried turning off the router during the night and testing during morning.

Hello @junior6995 ,

thank you for your reply.

That is indeed very strange.

Can you try a factory reset of the router?

After that you can set up the router with the “set up assistant”  on the router interface.

You will need your DSL Username and password. If you use a landline phone you also need your SIP data.

You can find everything in Mein o2 or in your contract documents.

I hope the connection to your PS5 works afterwards.😊

Best regards,

Manuela

Hi Manuela, as you can see on my first post, reset the router was one of the first thing I did to try to solve the issue :(
