My credit is going down hour by hour even if I disabled cellular data

Hi, hope this is the correct location fro my question, but unfortunately I don't understand german and it is really complicated for me to dig thru all forums and questions.

Yesterday I bought a prepaid SIM card for my iPhone4, and recharged it wth 15 EUR. The clerk at the shop told me that a daily data-plan is available that it will be automatically activated after the first connection and that its cost is 3.50.

This morning I was unable to make phone calls 'cause my credit was already 0.

On the account balance on "Mein O2" I see 2.90 EUR of phone calls and SMS', and more that 16 EUR billed with no expense description. I then put another 15 EUR credit on my phone number, and deactivated the cellular network, but I was billed another 3.24 EUR during the morning. What is happening? How do I understand if I was subscribed to some service I don't need and I don't requested?
Thank you in advance,
S.

my guess is that regardless if you turned of the cellular data or not, the phone continues to search for a network connection because it's a smartphone, which constantly retrieves data, be it wifi or 3g. Frankly you're way better off getting a data package at least, if not one of the o2 blue contracts, which includes minutes and texts. You can get by with 15 euros for some time with a regular cellphone, not with a smartphone though. I'm sure, there are people on here, who can give you more details on this.....

You should definitely use a data flatrate. Using a smartphone without a flatrate will be very expensive.
For example if you play a free game, you mostly see an advertisement on the top. For me it shows that there have to be a data transfer in the background...
After the first month with my new smartphone i had to pay about 150€ because i had no flatrate..
I hope you understand my German english and i could help you by deciding "whether or not".

Hi, thank  you for your kind answers. I agree I should subscribe a flat option, I did not do it because I received some wrong information from the shopkeeper who sold me the SIM card... He told me that the maximum daily cost is 3.50 if you use data, and that the daily-flat option is automatically activated at the time of the first connection, but that's not true... Everything was just caused by a misunderstanding, or a wrong information, wathever you want to call it ☺️

Thank you again,

S.
