I have been charged after finishing my contract

Hi,

I finished my contract some weeks ago (my phone registers no SIM card at the moment) and yesterday I notice I have been charged 24,99 EUR for no reason! (my contract used to be between 10 or 12 per month).

I demand an explanation and immediate refund.

Best

Hi @jdmartin

Welcome to our o2 Community.

I have been charged 24,99 EUR for no reason! (my contract used to be between 10 or 12 per month).

That can be explained simply. Your tariff costs 24.99 Euros per month. You had a discount of 14 euros until the beginning of December. This has expired and you would then be charged the normal basic fee in the month before the deactivation of your contract. This is therefore not an error

Kind regards Matze

Sir,

I am disappointed by your answer and by your attitude assuming I am wrong, so I would hope of you to be better informed before making a wrong assessment about the situation I am complaining about.

As I said, “ I finished my contract some weeks ago”: I requested a contract termination by phone (because I am leaving Germany), so my SIM card was disabled by the first weeks of January .

So, some weeks after my SIM card was disabled (I repeat, I don’t have phone signal anymore), I am being charged a new tariff, under a contract I never subscribed.

Last week I contacted the company by phone (using a neighbor’s phone, since I DON’T HAVE ONE anymore), and it seems they just applied a completely new contract to me (after I was very clear stating that it was my intention to END all contractual relations with O2 because I am leaving Germany).

My interlocutor assured me I would be refunded, since the charge was completely unjustified, but so far I haven’t received any confirmation that the contract was terminated (email or post) and I have not received the refund.

So I would appreciate a confirmation that I don’t have any contract pending with you (and please, don’t try to contact me with the phone, BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE ONE: use the email).

Best

D

If your contract was terminated after the discount ended then it is normal that you will have been charged the full amount after that. First weeks of January is after the beginning of December. This has nothing to do with you leaving Germany. You also can't terminate a contract by phone so something doesn't seem quite right with your story.

If you do still have a contract then it could be  that it was not terminated. What does the invoice say is the next date you can terminate the contract? If it is in one month then you do not have a new contract but the contract has been extended automatically. If you had a new contract then you would have received documents about it.

Nobody here can send you an email but a moderator will be able to look at your account in the next few days and confirm the status here.

How do I terminate my contract? You will not allow me to do it at the o2 shop, I can’t do it by phone, so how do I do it?

If I can terminate the contract, then why my SIM card had been deactivated? You can’t terminate the contract but you can deactivate the phone?

Please solve the issue soon.

PS: Please stop giving contradictory instructions. Just give a simple guideline of how to end the contract (I still don’t understand HOW my SIM card was deactivated but the contract was not terminated. It doesn’t make sense: why would deactivate the SIM card and keep charging me?).

I didn't say it wasn't terminated (I can't know that), I said it is possibly not because you seem to think it is still active, and I gave you a reason why that could be the case.

You can terminate a contract in writing or online: http://info.o2online.de/kuendigung/

My advice would be to wait for a moderator to check the status of your account. You perhaps don't realise that you are communicating primarily with other customers here.

Hey @jdmartin ,
as o2_matze and bs0 were trying to tell you, the amount of the costs and your bill can be explained as follows:
1.

That can be explained simply. Your tariff costs 24.99 Euros per month. You had a discount of 14 euros until the beginning of December. This has expired and you would then be charged the normal basic fee in the month before the deactivation of your contract. This is therefore not an error

2.

If your contract was terminated after the discount ended then it is normal that you will have been charged the full amount after that. First weeks of January is after the beginning of December.

An example:
Your billing cycle is from 4th of the month until the 3th of the next month.
For example: 02.12.2022 -03.01.2023 and let the termination of your contract be few days after your billing period.
So even after deaktivating your SIM card, your outstanding bill for the mentioned period has to be settled.
This is the reason why you received a bill, even after cancelling your contract. The bill refers to your last billing cycle.
I hope this was helpful and a frinedly reminder that this is a customer board, where customers assists and support each other.
So please watch your tone, be respectful and freindly!
