Hello, I have a homespot o2 4g router, I bought it as a quick fix when I had to start working from home, as my current internet was very slow and I could not arrange a quick appointment for an upgrade.

90% of the time this works fine, however every week or so there will be a day where no matter what VPN I connect to, I will get about 1% of the normal speed. To work from home I must connect to a specific VPN in order to access everything. This means that once a week I can not do any work at all, and its highly frustrating.

I found that the router has a Double NAT and it seems this could be the main cause of the VPN issues. This also causes a strict NAT on Xbox however it seems it doesn’t cause me too much trouble there. Is there any way to remove this double NAT, or could there be something else that is causing the VPN issues?

however every week or so there will be a day where no matter what VPN I connect to, I will get about 1% of the normal speed.

and when vpn is slow, what will be with normal browser-internet without vpn? slow also?

No, if the VPN is turned off then it is normally around 30/50mb/s, but as soon as any kind of VPN is connected, it drops to like 0.01/0.5mb/s.

so we have a problem with the vpn.

has vpn serveral different entry-points?

might be it would help to buy a “Homespot öffentliche IP Adresse”  here in the forum for 49,99€.

now you have a nat-ip. buying ip would offer you a real v4-ip.

you can cancel purchase if it dont help within 14 days.

just open new thread with topic “Homespot öffentliche IP Adresse gewünscht - für 49,99€ bitte freischalten.”

you will have to change router-settings. please ask for further infos.

Hi @Dannym88,

welcome to our English community.

I just saw that you followed up the suggestion of @Schaf344 and bought a public IPv4-address.

Is the connection now better?

I look forward to your feedback.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Hello, yes I did buy the public IP address. But it did not fix anything, I still have a double NAT and I still have issues connecting to any VPNs. The VPN connections are super unstable and often drop to 0.01mb/s on random days of the week. Please can you advise how to remove the double NAT? I thought that getting the public IP would fix this.

Hi @Dannym88,

thanks for your reply.

Did you already change your APN to “netpublic”?

Further information, how to install your homespot, you also get here: installation-video for your HomeSpot

I hope I could be of help to you.

Loving greetings,

Tobias
