Since few weeks, data roaming is not working anymore. 
It’s been working until few weeks ago. 
Based on my contract with O2 mobile, I pay  29,99 euro monthly, despite the fact I cannot make any use of the service while outside Germany. 
Can you please help? I have tried to get in touch with the hotline, but being in German I am not fully comfortable with it.

I understand that the German language can sometimes be hard to follow along as foreign-speaking person. :wink:

 

But therefore, I am here to help you. :hugging:

 

I just had a look in the settings of your mobile phone contract. The data roaming is not blocked from our side. 

 

In which country did you have these difficulties?

Did you test different providers in the country?

Did you perhaps block Roaming in your phone?

 

I hope we can find out the reason for not being able to use data-roaming outside of Germany.

Dear Tobias,

thank you for your help. I am in Italy right now and I did not have any issue until November 2020. I have not changed any settings since then, I have data roaming enabled on LTE. 
I cannot use the phone for any phone call and for anything else unless connected to wifi. I am basically paying for a service am not able to use. O2 can check the usage of my data roaming and see that there there is none since a couple of months. 
I hope the issue can be resolved.

thanks for your quick reply. 

 

In Italy only the following providers use LTE: Telecom Italia (TIM) and WindTre Italy. 

 

If you use any other provider, please switch off LTE and instead switch to 3G in your network settings of your device.

Hi Tobias,

I have tried it as well, but no change. I have Telekom Germany on another phone, set on LTE and I do not have any issue with data roaming. 
What would you suggest to do? 
Due to the covid situation is not really predictable how long and until when this condition will continue. 
I am happy to try and to follow your guidance to resolve the issue or any other advice on how to avoid to pay for a service am not able to use.

Additional note to the previous conversation with Tobias. 
I have also temporary moved the O2 simcard to another mobile phone just to check whether there was any issue with my own mobile phone. Same result, wherever the location is and whatever mobile phone, the O2 simcard does not allow me to use the data roaming I am paying for. 
I am not able to receive and place any phone call neither. 
What would you suggest to do? If this situation continues I do not see any other solution rather that cancelling the O2 mobile contract.

Update on my side: yesterday suddenly the O2 simcard started working again from the same location, same mobile phone. No specific action on my side. Has O2 did perform any action to resolve it? 
My data roaming is working again after almost 1 month and half. 
It would be helpful to know the root cause.

Hello @Maria Zino, i am very glad, that it works now.

I want to say that WE did solve the problem, but we did´nt do anything. :smile: Maybe there was an issue with the italian net.
