Cancellation of Contract after change of ownership

Hello there,

I have an existing O2 contract (O2 Free M Boost) which is under the name of my friend that will expire on November 2021. I am planning to take over the ownership and then eventually cancelled it,in order to avail a new O2 Service under my name.

The problem is on November I will be going home to the Philippines for a month. My concern is I wanted to keep my current number. The questions are: 

  1. Is it possible to apply for a new O2 contract before I go on vacation (possibly September or October 2021) and preserve my number even my current contract is still active?
  2. Or can I still preserve my number even if I will apply later than November 2021 after my contract has expired?

you are right the change of owner is charged 34,99 EUR once. 

And if you decide to change your contract later on, there is no fee to pay.

welcome to our community. :slight_smile:

It is nice to hear you wish to take over your friend’s contract. After you filled in the change of contract owner you have the chance to freeze the contract for a month or more until you get back to Germany. Then you can extend it for another 24 month by choosing new conditions. 

Unfortunately  it is not possible to take over the contract, cancel it and then sign a new contract and port the existing number to this new contract. That doesn’t work. So if you are intested in your mobile number it should be the process mentioned first.

Hallo @o2_Manga,

Thank you very much for your reply. 

So by taking the contract from my friend I have to pay some amount, right? And if ever I will apply for a new tariff, should I have to pay again the one-time registration payment? 

Then for example, after 24 months of extension under new conditions and I decided to terminate it, would it be possible?
