I was installed today, however I setup my router before the technician came. When I did, it accepted the pin and activated, however this was on the old tenants line who was still active in the wall apparently. So when the technician came and activated me, my Homebox 2 died, the red info light is stuck on, it will not activate via setup when it goes to verify the pin it sits and spins and then it fails, I’ve reset the router many times, called tech support they can’t figure it out. However my old neighbor left his old router in the storage room. I took his FRITZ!box and I plugged it in and logged into the router with the username and password as it doesn’t request a pin and it works fine, the internet works. I don’t know if the pin being accepted on the old tenants line before mine was activated destroyed the pin? The technical team said the box is provisioned to my account, but it will not activate.  Also to clarify, the homebox 2 will not even give me an option to put in a pin, it tries to go through setup and fails. I’ve used the web 192.168.1.1 method and the phone app method and the dsl suite method nothing works.

What kind of fritzbox are u using??

If you are using a 7490 or a 75x0 than keep it.

I would thing the homebox is merry with the “old” lane.

So for your lane the homebox is useless.

The problem is it is not mine, so I can’t keep it, I can only use it until we resolve the homebox 2 issue. The old neighbor who just moved let me borrow for the moment. The fritz is a 7490.

Buy a 7530 or if you find a cheap one a 7520 (used on ebay) but below 60€.

Than send the HomeBox back to O2 and don’t pay rent for the HomeBox.

I don’t mind buying a new box and just washing my hands of this homebox as it appears to be junk. How do I return it to them, without incurring any fees I’ve had it one day and it’s never worked?

So from what I can gather about Homebox 2 is that it has an internal pin cache that does not clear on factory reset. So being that the previous tenants line was still active when I first hooked up the router, the pin provisioned to his line and not mine, so now it will not provision to mine and this great 6741 edition has no option for manual pin entry or username and password login. Basically the box is stuck in limbo until it’s replaced or returned and replaced with a better router. What a horrible way to sell a product with no way to clear its cache.

For send back the o2 homebox you don’t need to pay any fee. Use the dsl retoure portal. After the o2 homebox is booked out from your customer account you don’t need to pay a monthly rent.

https://dsl-retoure.o2online.de/start/Dashboard/Index

and a Fritzbox 7490, 7530 and 7590 with Firmware >= 7.20 have an English system menu too.

Now they did charge me some 49.99 fee for it, but again I could never use it, do you know if they remove that on router return?

Hello @Cryanken and welcome to ou2 o2 community :-)

I am sorry to hear that there are issues with the o2 Homebox. If an o2 Homebox is connected to a DSL connection provided by us it will be tethered to it in its settings and in our database. So just resetting the Homebox will not help in such a case. Since the DSL connection of the former tennant was still active it was tethered to that connection.

As far as I can see you already were in contact with our DSL service regarding the router activation fee. Were all your other questions also answered? Or is there still something that we can do for you? :-)

Regards,

Lars

No I think I’m ok, my FRITZ!box I bought is working fine 🙂 The man told me he reversed the charge and credited it to my bill. So that’s all I really needed, hopefully though I do not get charged a rental fee for this month, he never mentioned that, as I didn’t rent anything, I went back to you the next day.

@o2_Lars i seem to have a billing problem, that I don’t agree with and the agent ended the chat with me and refused me management, can you help me with this?

Hello @Cryanken,

what kind of billing problem did you encounter? I am sure we can have a look into this.

Lars

I called and tried chat, also I called the store and messaged the store. I’ve just been given the run around about the shipping fee. The man at the store made me aware of the 49.99 fee, the 69.99 fee and the per month rate before and after promotion, but 9.99 was never quoted for shipping. So when I got my first bill, my confusion was expected. I do not like hidden charges. I’ve tried disputing it based on non disclosure as well as the fact that I don’t even have the modem anymore due to its error and I’ve gotten nowhere. The man in the store couldn’t understand me enough to allow me to dispute their lack of disclosure but he could sell me your product, which blows my mind. This is your Pamphlet and all he wrote were these fees. Nothing in the papers he had me sign have any price quotes. I’m just asking for a fee non disclosed to me be waived, and it seems like I’m asking for the world. I’m not sure what to do. 😒

@Cryanken i see crossed out ab 13 Monate (after 13 months) and 7 months 34,99 Euro. Can it happen that you have a my home L Flex (monthly terminable) if yes, you will billed with 69,99 Euro connection fee, 49,99 Euro for provide the Hardware and 9,99 Euro for send.

The problem is I asked for all fees up front, plus I had a massive install issue. Making the 9.99 fee useless to me and not explained.

Hello @Cryanken,

I am glad to hear that your DSL connection is up and running as it should 🙂 I had a look into this and ordered a refund for the shipping costs. You should recieve a confirmation regarding this refund shortly and it qill also appear on one of the two following invoices :-)

Lars, is it possible to contact me directly, I moved in June and asked in a local office and they said to just leave my internet active for the bundle, even though at my new address you don’t provide service, and it’s seems like because the line is active my ip is pulling off whoever is using internet there now, and I got some weird letter in the mail… as it’s a open area the info I need to provide would be more suited to a PM please.

Hello @Cryanken

Do I understand you correctly that you moved but your contract is not cancelled and your internet connection is at your old address?

I have sent you a private Message, please write also in this thread when you have sent me your answer 🙂

Regards,

Gerrit

Hello @Cryanken ,

You have already cancelled your DSL contract and it will be switched off in a few days.
Is this still your wish, or would you like to have a contract renewal offer in the course of moving your DSL contract?

Then please contact the colleagues on the hotline directly so that they can quickly prepare an offer for you.
This is currently no longer possible due to the cancellation.

Best regards,
Maria
