Inquiry about Internet product

Hello?

I’d like to ask some questions about Internet product as follows.

  • When configuring the Internet based on LTE/5G, the sim card is inserted into the router, not mobile phone?
  • Is it possible to use 100Mbps with LTE, not 5G? (I think it’s fully enough to cover 100Mbps.)
  • How long does it take to receive the router once I have a contract? On the average. Here is Stuttgart.
  • If I contract O2 my home, is it possible to install by myself without technician?

Thank you in advance.

Edit o2_Bianca: Moved from o2 My Home Vertrag&Tarife to English o2 Commnity Broadband&Landline

Hello @wearetheworld

and welcome to our o2 community 😊

our o2 My Home (LTE) tarifs are ment to be used with a LTE Router at a fixed adress. You can order a router along with the tarif or chose to buy another LTE Router on the free market.

Depending on the network situation at your adress the speed can be up to 100 Mbit/s. If you want to check the coverage in advance, you can order our o2 test card with one month unlimited data for free.

The normal delivery time is tree to five days (with DHL). The installation is easy, a visit by a technician is not necessary here.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Best regards

Giulia

Hello?

Thanks for your kind answer.

I was confused about whether 100M is supported by LTE because of O2 web site as follows;

(in O2 my Home product information screen)

    - O2 my Home M 100Mbps: Surf at home in the latest "5G" network from O2
    - O2 my Home S 50Mbps: Surf at home with "4G LTE/5G"

  (in check availability screen)

    - O2 my Home M - "LTE/5G" with 100MBit/s

  (in result from check availability)

    - O2 my Home M. connection via “5G” network from O2

Is it right 100 Mbps is also available with LTE?

I have some questions about O2 test card. It looks like very useful.

  - Does it communicate with LTE or 5G?

  - How can I prepare a router?

  - In the description, it says “free SIM card”. Does it mean I have to prepare it by myself? And is it ok with AldiTalk USIM?

  - In the description, “Up to 500MBit/s(in the 4G network on average 59.7MBit/s)”. How about the speed in 5G network? (For reference, when I checked availability for my new address, it says “my Home M”. That is,  100Mbps!!)

  - In case of surfing abroad, how can you measure the cost?

I’ve to decide and contract within this week because I’m going to move in next week. So, I look forward to a quick reply.

Thank you very much.

Hello @wearetheworld,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict a specific bandwidth at your address, as many different factors can influence the mobile network. It is therefore good if you test the speed beforehand.

The test card is suitable for both LTE and 5G, provided that you have 5G coverage at your address and a 5G-capable device. However, the test card is intended more for use in a mobile phone.

Concerning your AldiTalk question, I don’t understand it.

Both o2 My Home and the testcard can not be used abroad. o2 My Home can be used at one adress only, the test card in Germany.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

Best regards

Giulia

Thank you for your answer.

According to your guideline, I’m considering o2 test card, but I’d like to ask few more questions to make it clear.

 - My last question in the previous message: “In case of surfing abroad, how can you measure the cost?”

In the o2 test card product description, “Our test offer for the free SIM card is only valid for Germany. There are charges for calling and surfing abroad.”  I thought if we surf abroad site(eg, Korean Web site) on the internet, then o2 will charge for it(I’m still here in Germany). If it is right, I wonder how you charge for it.

 - Is there anything I have to prepare, please let me know. Do you provide SIM card?

 - According to the Q&A sites, we can also use mobile pocket router instead of mobile phone. Can I get some information about this router? Model name, price, how to order, etc.

I have another question. Do you have a combination product for internet and mobile communication? I can’t find it on your web site.

Thank you so much.

Hey @wearetheworld ,
thanks for your questions:

“I thought if we surf abroad site(eg, Korean Web site) on the internet, then o2 will charge for it(I’m still here in Germany). If it is right, I wonder how you charge for it.”
By surfing abroad, we mean if you are phiscally abroad. Not if you are surfing on foreign websites or websites from abroad :-)
So if you are in Germany and surf on korean website, everithing should be fine.

- Is there anything I have to prepare, please let me know. Do you provide SIM card?
We do provide SIM cards. If you are interested you can have one of the o2 test card for 30 days.
Kostenlose SIM-Karte: o2 Testkarte | o2 (o2online.de) I can help you with the activation.
It is important that you da have a residance in germany.

- According to the Q&A sites, we can also use mobile pocket router instead of mobile phone. Can I get some information about this router? Model name, price, how to order, etc.
WLAN aus der Steckdose: o2 HomeSpot günstig sichern (o2online.de)

The infomation are unfortunatly in german. But if you have further questions or have decided for certain product,  I’m happy to help.

Thanks for your reply, but it took so looooooooooooong time to get the answer.

I stayed here for several months, but I still can't get used to this communication system.

Thank you anyway.

I’d like to point out one thing that there is some difference on products introduced by O2 web site and O2 shops. I could find another product on O2 shop. I just wanted to tell you it.

Thank you so much.

Please get in touch with our colleagues from our english speaking o2 Holine Welcome to our english speaking O₂ Hotline | O₂ Community (o2online.de)
We as an online Community for customers predominantly by costomers do not offer this kind of communication.
But we are always happy to help. Particularly if it is about researching for or activating, or informing about products, systems  ...🙂
And yes, products in our shops may differ to products at our websites.
Is there a specific product to which you are refering to? I can look that up for you.
Kind regards.
