Hey @pattyannish,

Welcome to the o2 Community. 😊

Have you used the linked form from Bumer or do you have any other unanswered questions on the subject?

Kind regards

Lea

Hi Kathi, I have a question. I had a call with o2 and the employee said there is absolutely no way to port a postpaid number to a prepaid number. Another employee said he is wrong. I'm struggling to find out what the truth here is.

I have been a postpaid customer for years. I want to change to prepaid and keep my current number. This is the situation. I need to do this by the end of the week.

Thank you!!

@pattyannish It's a shame that you've received different statements about this 🤔

For a long time, it was not possible for us to transfer a number from a fixed-term contract to another contract or to prepaid. However, this has now been possible again for a while.

Bumer has already sent you the form for this. You can use it to request an internal number portability 🙂

Thank you very much for this information. I am assuming that first I need to cancel my o2 contract, and then order a prepaid sim from O2, and then send this form via email - is that correct? Do I need to somehow replace “SIM-Kartennummer des neuen Vertrages 89492” on the paper?

I am feeling very confused. I would like to write out the steps of this process and you please tell me if they are correct? I also have some questions.

  1. Cancel current o2 postpaid contract
  2. buy new SIM card and register it (takes 2 days to register) and decide on o2 plan at this time online (is this correct?)
  3. 2 days after registering SIM card, email Übertragung einer Mobilrufnummer to o2-rufnummernmitnahme@telefonica.com.
  4.  Wait until I receive email confirmation from o2 that my number is ported.
  • What happens with old SIM card once number is ported? Does it get changed to a random phone number?
  • Do I need to replace the text ““SIM-Kartennummer des neuen Vertrages 89492” in the Übertragung einer Mobilrufnummer form?
  • Can I buy a SIM card at any store that offers o2 prepaid SIM cards?
  • Does this new prepaid plan work as postpaid, where I can use this in other European countries free of charge (Zone 1)?
  • I would like to buy the 1-year plan for my prepaid SIM, can I do this online when registering my new SIM?

Thank you!

I answer all questions with yes. The SIM card number is from the prepaid card that must be entered. If you port at the end of the contract, the old SIM card will be deactivated.

Hello @pattyannish ,

were you able to start the porting process after Bumer answered your questions or can we still support you further here? Please let us know.

Kind regards, Sven
