Phone number portability

I just joined o2 and when i was making my contract i added i would want to include a number portability from my old number but i just receieved the new sim from o2 this morning and it came with a different number.. 

Is there anything special i need to do? kindly assist me,. thank you..

The number porting process starts automatically. You will be notified of a transfer date in the next few days.

After your SIM card the process of the porting of your number starts and you will be notified by SMS, as Bumer explained.
