contract issue

Hi,

My girlfriend and I moved to Germany in June of 2019, I am from Australia and she is Japanese. We had visas for one year so we needed to get phone numbers, we went to an O2 shop in Berlin and the guy there suggested that our best course of action was to go on a two year plan that he said had no lock-in clauses and was easily cancelable before then if we were leaving Germany and had acquired the abmeldung. Now fast forward 10 months and because of the coronavirus my girlfriend and I had to leave and go back to our homes and we didn't have the opportunity to go back to Berlin and cancel our contract in person with the guy we go it off. Now since being home I have tried to cancel the contract through your online services and thought I had managed this through the help of a friend in Germany who could call the number to confirm I wanted to cancel my contract. I then received an email stating that my contract has been confirmed as cancelled but the date for the cancellation is at the end of the 2 years not immediately as I was told originally and that I still have to pay every month up until the end of the contract. Any advice you can give me on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you just cancelled the contract to the end of the two year term. What you wanted to do is cancel early because you have left the country permanently. This is possible but you need to complete the following form and submit it together with the required documents:
