Switched from o2 my Home L to Home XL, but still getting old speed (100 Mbit)

Hi everyone,

I hope someone here can help or share their experience.

I had the o2 my Home L contract with 100 Mbit download speed and used a FRITZ! Box 6660 Cable router.
I canceled this contract on 21.04.2025 and ordered a new contract (o2 Home XL, 500 Mbit), which was supposed to start today (22.04.2025) — using the same router as before.

However, after restarting the router and checking the connection, I still receive only 100 Mbit download speed, the same as with the old contract.

My questions:

  • Is it normal that the speed upgrade takes a few more days after the new contract start date?

  • Do I need to do anything on my side (like reset the router to factory settings or contact support)?

  • How can I check if the new contract is already active on my line?

Thank you very much in advance for any advice!

Hello @an100n,

welcome to our o2 Community 😀

It is actually unusual to cancel a contract and then immediately sign a new one. A simple tariff change would have been much easier and involves fewer complications.

In your case, the cancellation of the old contract has not yet been completed. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem. However, since you are continuing to use the same router on the same connection, you were still bound to the old terms and conditions until the old contract is completely deactivated. This usually takes about a week.

In the meantime, you have already contacted our technical support team. Were they already able to resolve the issue?

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Best regards

Giulia
