I have to move in short notice and I want to terminate the DSL contract early.

Hallo,

I have to move within this month. And I have done the process of termination contract on O2 website and telephone. Just by telephone, the customer service told me that I should send a mail per post with a sondernkündigung form. Or alternative, I give the next house renter the DSL and let them continue my contract. But I am afraid that is not possible because I will give the house back to the house renter company in Frankfurt. I will move from Frankfurt to Bonn. And I will not be able to stay and process it in Frankfurt.

Could you please give me some advice regarding this issue? What should I do with the router? I am okay if I have to pay the termination fee. As I understand that I have a 2 year contract and I have to terminate early. I have a reason why I have to move out soon because my roommate recently died because of Covid-19.

Thank you very much and have a nice day.

Yes, you can, at least technically. Whether you need two connections is unfortunately not relevant for the contract. What you need to do is request that your contract be transferred to the new address (Umzugsauftrag).

If o2 is able to provide the service at your new address then you will have the choice of either terminating regularly and having two internet connections until the end if the two year contract with o2 or asking o2 to simply deactivate the connection at your old address. You would then be billed for the remaining term in one sum, but you of course have the right to ask o2 to continue billing you monthly until the end if the contract instead.

If o2 inform you that they cannot provide the service you would be entitled to terminate the contract early by paying three months' line rental. This is a statutory provision.

The termination of a 2-year contract is only possible with effect to the end of the agreed contract period. If you move, you should instruct o2 to have the connection moved to the new address. You can then continue to use the existing contract at your new address if it is available there.
If you do not give a removal order, o2 will otherwise invoice you for the entire remaining contract months in one sum. This can be quite expensive.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I won't be able to use my internet at my new home. As there is already an internet connection available. I can't use 2 dsl in the same house right?
