Questions about cost protection, why do I have to pay €119.80?

Hello. I had a little trip to Italy while use all my network.
I’ve used cost-saving code which i sent to 80115 - kostenschultz ein  which was limited to 59.90 eur per MONTH.
But o2 send me 119.80 eur for last month instead. This is a problem.
Why this service not working and I have to waste all my money?

Hello @KatsuroDesu ,

Welcome to the o2 community 💙

Important information about cost protection: This automatically applies when you make calls or use data outside the EU. If you have an Unlimited contract, you do not have unlimited mobile data in the EU, but only the data specified in the tariff.

Cost protection works in two stages:

  •     When you travel to a non-EU country or use up your Unlimited data allowance, cost protection kicks in and you receive a warning.
  •     Once you have used €59.50, your calls and mobile data will be blocked. You will need to manually unblock them to continue surfing or making calls.

Cost protection applies separately to talktime and mobile data. With an activated itemised bill you can see exactly what you have spent.

Yes. It’s unlimited max 2021.

then you canceled the cost protection after EUR 59.50 because you needed additional data volume?

Not canceled. That’s why I created this thread.

There are two cost limits. If you deactivated the protection when you reached the first one, the second limit is 119,80.

I understand you, but if the invoice shows EUR 119.00, the EUR 59.50 cost protection has been lifted. Wait here for an o2 employee to take a look at it.

I activated only first one, which is 60 eur.

But I need only 59.50 eur limit which was enabled. I didn’t get any new info for 60+ eur waste.

I am still awaiting a response from the contact form and forum. O2 is likely the worst service provider in Germany.

Italy is an EU country and there is no roaming limit of €59.50. The cost protection applies to non-EU countries. Therefore, I suspect data usage in Switzerland. Either when passing through or close to the national border.

Which welcome text messages did you receive before?
