Hello I`m locked down in quarantine in Brazil and I want to cancel my plan, because i can`t get back to Germany right now.
The post offices are close and I can`t leave the place I`m.
So how can I proceed? I don`t have a fax in the place and also don`t have any fax services working.
I was informed the only way would be through sending a letter or a fax, but under quarantine I can`t do any of those.
Which other alternative can I use, something via the app or simply sending an email or making a phone call?

You can register your intention to terminate the contract in the customer portal “Kündigung vormerken” and then you need to call a telephone number which will be shown to you within 10 days to actually have the contract terminated.

Thanks, can I write there in English?

As this is emergency context the contract will be terminated normally?

The contract then ends when the minimum term expires.

No. You do not write. First you make a „Kündigungsvormerkung“ (notice, that you want to cancel) online, then you call a number within 10 days and confirm it. The call is compulsary!

As not every callcenter agent speaks German EDIT: English, it could become difficult.

:joy:

Of course I meant English. 😊

Perhaps it was a Freudian mistake because of a phone call with o2 a few weeks ago. 😉

Thanks everyone, I will try that.

what this means? I have to pay for all the remaining months in the contract?

Yes. Are you not coming back to Germany when the situation improves?

No I`m not going back Europe any time soon with this situation

I basically left Germany, and I`m not coming back. That the reason for canceling it.
How can avoid paying the rest, as I know that if I have moved out I`m not obliged to pay for it

I heard O need to prove that I`m in Brazil by showing some document, but where shall I send it to?

You are wrong. You are obliged to pay as long as o2 did not agree to your cancellation.

I have spoken before with customer support in English and now they simply say that  NO ONE in O2 can speak English, is that correct??

Well not what the person on the customer service in English told me last time, she said that if I leave the country I can finish my contract.

And really you gonna make me pay for this under quarantine in Brazil?
Thats is starting to look very sneaky and opportunistic

Please respect national law regarding contracts!

If you leave Germany, fill out the Formular, with the needed papers to o2, you find it in Formular center (moving abroad).

You can print it, sign it and send it via post service to o2 customers service in Nürnberg.

Be aware that it is a gesture of good will and not an obligation on the part of o2. You will also need to prove that you have left Germany permanently, ie. deregistered.

the link for this formular is broken

I was in spain, and took the last minute flight to brazil, no time to go back to germany and deregister

Well you will need to deregister at some point and maybe it is possible to do it from Brazil under the circumstances. You would need to contact the authorities where you lived to ask.

The form is here: https://static2.o9.de/resource/blob/67636/1514edef53eb4184657eaca1f67ca03a/contract-cancellation-moving-abroad-download-data.pdf

Hi @Martin Holz,

thanks for your message.

I regret that you have to stay in quarantine in Brazil because of the corona-virus. Times are really difficult at the moment.

As @bs0 already informed you, the only possibility that I see for you to come out of your contract at once is to send a cancellation because of moving abroad.

As I see, you have already sent the document to us. It depends now on our good will, if we will cancel your contract as soon as possible without a deregistration-note from Germany. I understand that you are not able to get a deregistration note from Germany as all offices are closed at the moment.

As soon as I have got any reply I will let you know.

Do you plan to come back to Germany after the corona-crisis have ended in Germany?

I hope that we can offer you a convenient solution.

All the best for you.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Dear @Martin Holz ,

your cancellation is accepted for July 16th 2021. I am sorry, that I don’t have better news for you.

Do you have any papers that can prove that you will not be returning to Germany for the foreseeable future?

Kind regards,

Andrea
