ordering Macbook pro. why add tarif ?

hello,

i am already a customer of o2 and i have a mobile contract for 24 months with a phone.

now i want to order a Macbook pro . and they require me to add a data plan for 24 months.

why do i need this data plan ? i already have a mobile contract. why should i take another plan ? 

can someone explain to me ?
