O2 = scam

Stay away from O2!

They are scammers and have a shit of a service !!

They sold me service that doesn’t work at all!! But they are charging it every month. I tried to cancel the service, but on the phone they told me to send a letter by post !! In 2021 !!! I send them e-mail, they don’t respond. Then I send another, they say ok we are sorry you are leaving, your contract will be terminated in 2023! Are you stupid or what ???!!! I want to cancel it now BECAUSE IT DOESNT WORK. If you sold me service that doesn’t f**** work how do you call charging it every month ? I call it stealing ! Now nobody responds to my e-mails anymore.

And that surprises you when you write like this? Learn some manners and try again.

O2 has no email service, might be that that is the reason for no answer?!

Yes they have an e-mail. It is not public on the website but if you call them you can get it. But I think maybe the toster is working there because they respond with some BS.
How would you talk if they are ignoring you and stealing your money for months ? I tried nice but it didn’t work.

They are obligated to respond by law and also if they can’t provide the service they are obligated to give you termination.

I would use the proper channels and use a friendly wording.

This is a proper channel

No, it isn’t. That is an email address for website concerns and as you have experienced it is not a reliable contact for customer services.

And no, they are not obliged to respond to your emails by law.

If you want to terminate your contract early for cause, then yes, even in 2021, you need to send a letter to o2, preferably by recorded delivery, outlining exactly why your request should be granted and giving them at least 14 days to rectify any problems. If this is a mobile contract and the problems you are having are only at your location, then this would not be a reason to terminate the contract early as mobile contracts do not guarantee service at a particular location.

The chances of success will be considerably less if you include ricualous accusations such as theft or call people stupid. I am guessing you just haven’t gone about this the right way.

Service is internet and it doesn’t work. And yes they need to terminate it by law. And even if they don’t you always can terminate contract you just need to pay some penalty.

I didn’t know that people in Germany are living under the rock in 2021 my bad !

email address i got from them, from customer service !

Try telling lawyers that they are living under a rock when certain types of communication need to be in writing for legal reasons. Extraordinary termination of a contract for a compelling reason is one of these situations. Just because email has been around for over 30 years now doesn’t mean it is the best form of communication in all situations.

By internet you mean DSL? What do you mean ‘it doesn’t work’? What doesn’t work exactly? You have no connection?

I am not sure where you have your knowledge of German contract law from, but there is no such thing as a right to early termination and paying a penalty in such cases. In the case of DSL, if the service cannot be provided, this cannot be rectified, and it is the provider’s fault, then yes, you would have a right to extraordinary termination for a compelling reason. As already mentioned, this requires you to write to o2 explaining the reasons and giving them at least 14 days (for DSL 21 is better) to rectify the problem with your connection.

Yeah sorry I am just angry because I really thought that O2 is the Best option here in Germany. That is why i chosed them !

And yes I can’t believe that in Germany this is so slow and they don’t use an e-mail. Also in other EU countries you can terminate your contract if you are not satisfied with your service. If it’s their fault you don’t need to pay anything but if that is not the case you can still terminate it but you need to pay something for example the discount you got.

I can’t believe that this is not possible here.

And yes I know they are not thefts in general. But in my case I just feel like this… Maybe I am just not used to this “Cold and robot like Germany”

Hi @filip90

welcome to our English Community.

I regret that you are not happy with the termination that you got.

I understand that it is not so easy to get used to the German laws and procedures. Did you already follow the advice of @bs0 ?

Please send a friendly extraordinary cancellation letter with a good reason to the following address:

Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG

Kundenbetreuung

90345 Nürnberg

It is also possible by fax: 01805 571 766

Our cancellation-department will then check if an extraordinary cancellation is possible.

I hope that we can find a solution for you.

Loving greetings,

Tobias
