My o2 Homespot is slow (less than 4 Mbps)

I have been experiencing low speeds (download and upload speeds of less than 4 Mbps for the past month or so). I live near Mörsenbroicher Weg, 40470 Düsseldorf. The link https://www.o2online.de/netz/netzstoerung/ says that there are no problems with my street address.

I get low speeds all day long (even during early mornings), so I am not sure if it is a problem of network overload. Is there a way to identify the reason for such low speeds (upload and download speeds of less than 4 Mbps)

Now its terrible (2 Mbps)

Hi @Handy4747

Where is the Homespot located in your home? Do you have the possibility to place it close to a window? Try out several locations.

Kind regards
Alex

Hi @Handy4747 ,

in addition to the things @MXP_Alex mentioned (thanks a lot!), the connected station would also be rather useful.

Can you check your HomeSpot UI and copy / past the Cell-ID here?

The closest LTE-Node seems fine, even though a bit under stress it seems. Other Nodes are a bit more under load according to the statistics. Finding the node which provides LTE for your HomeSpot could provide a bit more insight into what’ going on.

Changing the location of the HomeSpot then might come into play, since a different location can translate to a connection with a different node.

The closest node is located to the east, by the way.

Best regards,
Kurt

Hi,

I Have the same problem with my O2 My Home. I work online/remote. Slow internet connection is worst thing can happened to me. The speed varies from every second. I moved the router around the room. I also bought another cable. The problem is still present... Would an external antenna solve the problem?

HI, sorry for waiting so long for my answer. I have deadline, end of project. I'm not fix problem completely because second reason is impossible to fix. I fixed the first one by entering the router through the browser and turning off the 2.4 signal. For some reason, the signals interfered with each other, blocked each other. When I did that, the connection was much better, faster. I had a speed of about 20 Mbit. I have better connection, speed overnight, but I always have oscillations in connection, speed. During the day they go from 2 Mbps to 20 Mbps, and during the night from 23 Mbps to 45 Mbps. The problem that I cannot fix are tourists. I live in the center of Berlin, Leipziger Strasse so there are thousands of them. The LTE node can't handle that many connections, so that's my biggest problem... Because of them, I'm thinking of switching to cable internet. I also have DSL internet in my apartment, but I can't get a speed higher than 16 Mbps at this address (the delivered speed is 10.90 Mbps), they say I can get 100 Mbps, but they can guarantee me that I will have 100 Mbps, but I probably will have speed 30-35 Mbps. I hope that the third internet connection in the apartment, which I will pay for, will solve my problem. :D

My speed in this moments

Hello @user_381, thanks for your feedback :-)

In an area with a lot of devices that are using the WiFi network switching from 2.4 GHz to 5GHz often results in a great improvement as you already observed.

And I agree, if you have the oportunity to use a internet connection over DSL, cable or FTTH it is almost in every case superior to a mobile connection. I wish you best of luck that this connection will work as it should, drop us a line if you need more information :-)

Regards,

Lars
