I recently got a new contract which comes with new number. I haven’t activated it, I want to shift this contract to my existing sim number. How can I shift it?

Lösung von bs0

You need to port the number from your old contract to the new one. Is the old contract still active?

You will need to activate the new contract and then request the number porting (Portierung) in the customer portal or the app.

Good morning @munchnite 🤗

Thank you for contacting us with your question about number portability.

Were you able to apply for it using the description provided by bs0?

Or are you looking to transfer your number from an o2 contract to a new one? If so, please use our form for internal porting.

The old contract is still running, although it’s past its 2 year mandatory mark so I can get it cancelled or changed as far as I know.

so now I should activate new contract and port number via the app? Or do i need to fill in the form shared?

The new contract must be activated before you send off the form.

When your old contract is also with us, @munchnite, you first need to activate the nbew contract for its temporary number to be activated and then you can use the form to order the porting of your old number.

For it to succeed, before the deactivation of your old contract when you cancel it, you have to set an opt-in for your old number to be set free.

Best Regards,

Gerrit

So just to clarify the steps are in this order:

  1. Activate new contract with its new number
  2. Fill form and share via email
  3. deactivate old contract and opt for old number to be set free

Should I wait for anything before I carry out step 3?

You don't need to release the phone number if you want to port it at the end of your contract.

@munchnite Bumer is right, when transferring a phone number at the end of a contract or after the contract has ended, it no longer needs to be released for porting 🙂

So Step 3 is not required then. Got it, thank you very much for the help!
