Extraordinary contract cancellation

Hello, since July J have been writing and sending letters to O2 to cancel my contract referring my extraordinary right to cancel. Since I moved to Sweden and I do no longer live in Germany. I already sent all the documents but I have gotten an email from O2 that saying my contract will be terminated in 31.10.2021. With 3 months notice period I should be able to cancel the contract by this October. It would be really great if you could help me.

Best regards, ceren

There is no right to early termination, though o2 does usually agree to it if you have left the country permamanently. What documents did you send?

I have left the country permanently. I sent my exmatricualtion form from the bürger service, new flat and job contract.

In the next few days a moderator can have a look at your customer account and check the status. They will reply to you here. Maybe the documents didn’t arrive, were overlooked, or there is some other reason why the contract cannot be terminated early.

Thanks, today i will send the documents again. and for the payment, i am not sure how to do it since I have already closed my german bank.

Hi @cerenin

welcome to our English community.

Yes, it is a good idea that you send us the following documents again:

  • the deregistration notification of your place in Germany
  • the registration notfication of your stay abroad (alternatively a confirmation of your landlord or of your appartment)
  • the confirmation of the 3-month-fee

We sent you already an e-mail with this information on 25th July 2020.

You have the possibility to transfer a payment from any bank outside of Germany. Just use this bank-account together with your customer-number as “reason for transfer”:

Hypo Vereinsbank AG
IBAN: DE16 7002 0270 0005 7131 53
BIC: HYVEDEMMXXX

If you have any further questions, just let me know.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Hi, good day!

I was an AuPair in Germany and I let the company know about me coming back to México a month before, so I asked for a cancelation of my contract. I was asked to send paperwork and to pay a 3 month fee (which I did) but the paperwork was sent after me leaving since I needed a paper from the Rathaus about my deregistration and a letter that here in México we do not get once we are back in the country, there is not such a thing as registration of me to an apartment since I live with my family. So I sent a letter signed saying I got to my house and a copy of my ID (there you can find my adress). On Wednesday I receive a bill of the month of August and there I could see the 3 month fee payment I did, but I haven’t receive any confirmation of my contract cancellation saying that it is done and I don’t have any more charges.

Could you help me with this, please? I am afraid my contract is still running and I would like to know the cancelation is at least in process. I need answers, please.

Regards,

Sofia Muñoz

Hi @anasofiamunoz

thanks for contacting us here in our English community.

In order to check everything concerning your cancellation because of moving abroad, I still need some more details from you. Therefore, you just have received a private message from me via @o2_Support. Please reply there to my request.

Afterwards, I will let you know how the situation is with your cancellation.

Thanks a lot.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Hello,

I sent my documents for the second time and it has been 5 days since the day I sent. Could you please check the documents? Today I received a bill of August and September. But still no change for the cancellation. My contract is still saying that it will be cancelled in October 2021. But I had already sent all the documents on July which shows that I moved from Germany. I still haven’t received any information.

Could you help me with this, please?

Best,

The documents have to be checked by the department that decides about early termination, so nobody here in the forum will be able to make a decision. You should allow two weeks for a reply.

Hi @cerenin

thanks for your reply.

How did you send the documents?

Until now, I do not see your documents that you sent to us 5 days ago.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

I am happy to help you with the cancellation because of moving abroad.

Please see all instructions for cancelling your contract to an earlier date here in this link: http://g.o2.de/w21

As you see there, we need the following cancellation letter from you: extraordinary cancellation form for moving abroad

Additionally, we need the following documents from you:

  • a de-registration certificate of your present place of residence
  • a notification of your new, foreign domicile (alternatively a confirmation of your employer or landlord)
  • your approval for us to charge you the all-inclusive basic fee for 3 months (see cancellation form)

As soon as we have received all these documents, we will deactivate your contract to the next possible date.

Hi @cerenin

I just checked your situation with your cancellation.

Your contract was deactivated on 20th October 2020.

I guess that everything is clarified for you now. If you have any further questions, just feel free to contact our English community.

All the best for you abroad.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Hello! I left Germany a month ago and before that i sent a letter to O2 informing about my situation and that i was leaving and not coming back to Germany. But today I received the bill from the past month, i want to know if this is usual and how many months will they still charge me. I didn’t received a letter of confirmation from O2 nor did i have access to any kind of customer service because the hotlines where always crashing and when not, nobody spoke english and with custome service in a shop i didn’t had any luck. So please could somebody tell me how they handle this situations because I fell like they are just taking money away without providing any service.

Greetings, Brenda.

Did you also send in the required documents for early termination, in particular your deregsitration certificate for Germany and proof of residence abroad? It is not enough to just write a letter.

Is it a mobile contract? In that case you can use it everywhere so o2 would still be providing the service you are paying for. As a goodwill gesture it is usually possible to terminate early on payment of 3 months basic fee for your tarif.

Here is the document you should have used:

Hi, thanks for the information! However I did send my abmeldung and all the necessary information for the extraordinary cancellation, that’s why i find it weird that I didn’t received a confirmation letter. I just need to know if the next payments will be the fee for canceling before the end of contract or  that they didn’t cancel my contract

Hi @Brenda cellilli

welcome to our community.

I’m glad @bs0 already assisted you in this matter. I had a closer look at your contract. My collegues worked your request. Both contracts will be terminated by June 5th 2021. You will receive your final invoice containing the three basic charges in advance by the end of June. Are there any questions left to ask?

Greetings
