contract situation


So my 24 months contract was supposed to end at the end of this month. I went to the shop and told them I want to buy a new phone on contract but they say that I can't do it without having a new contract and this one will continue for next year as I had to cancel the contract 3 months in advance ,how valid is this and is there a work around this?

The information the shop gave you is correct. If you don't give three months' notice that you wish to terminate the contract it will automatically be extended by 12 months. You can choose to actively extend the contract for 2 years, buy s new phone at the same time and get a hardware discount for the next 24 months.

just as @bs0 said you can definitely extend your contract instead of getting a new one!
