Concern Regarding High Bill Charges

Dear O2 Customer Support,

I hope this message finds you well. I recently received my bill, and I am quite concerned about the total amount, as it seems significantly higher than expected. Specifically, I noticed that my data charges for the last month have reached €60 while I was abroad, even though I was using a French network and SIM card during my time there.

I would appreciate it if you could review this charge and provide me with a clear explanation of why it has been applied. If there has been an error, I kindly request an adjustment to my bill.

Looking forward to your prompt response and assistance in resolving this matter.

Best regards,
Alireza

Hello @Alleto,
i can well understand that you were surprised about the increased amount of your bill. To give us a better overview of the situation, we have a few more questions. What tariff and which roaming pack do you use in your contract? Which country were you travelling in? Did you not use your SIM card during your stay?
Best regards Bianca

Hi @o2_Bianca

Thank you for your response. My tariff was O2 Unlimited Smart, and my usual monthly charge is between 35-50 euros. During the time in question, I was on vacation in France and used a French eSIM for my connection, meaning I did not use my roaming services. However, I have now been charged 60 euros for "Ausland" charges.

Could you please clarify why this charge was applied? I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter.

Best regards

Alireza

Yes, I’ve been to Monaco for almost a day but then again I used my e-sim.

You must have done without realising it as otherwise there is no way that the network in Monaco would have been able to register the data usage and charge for it. You had both SIM cards in the phone and usually the o2 SIM is the primary one? Some apps will ignored the prefered SIM for data connections when roaming, so it is likely that one or more apps connected via the o2 SIM. In future you should make sure that not just data roaming but also mobile data is deactivated for the SIM you don’t want to connect.

That doesn't matter, even if you have turned off mobile data, data can still flow. It depends on the smartphone. You are only safe in airplane mode.

well, I have changed all my setting to just use the e-sim and switched off my primary o2 simcard.

again even in that case 60 euros for just half a day is too much!!!

The 59.50 EUR is the cost protection. Monaco is WZ 3, where 1MB costs EUR 0.99. That means they can be reached quickly.

Hello @Alleto

that is unfortunate when you have been charged fees when using data while being in a network of Monaco, which is unfortunately a non-EU network.

bs0 and Bumer already explained everything very good, many thanks also from me. Yes, the best way to be entirely sure regardless of the Smartphone model and its setting is to activate the flight/airplane mode.

Best Regards,

Gerrit
