cancel prepaid SIM without refund

I signed up for o2 my Prepaid M when I first moved to Germany some weeks ago and have now gotten a phone number by my employer.

There are only a few cents left on my balance so don’t want to take the effort to request a refund but want to make sure the number is cancelled and I’m not liable for any further payments. Can somebody help me cancel this SIM?

Thanks,
Peter

Dear @GeekyPete ,

welcome here in our o2 community. :beetle:

If you want to be sure that the card will be deactivated and no further costs will be incurred, you should either cancel it directly or order a payout of the balance, because then the SIM card will be cancelled as well.

Kind regards,

Andrea

Thanks for the reply - are there any instructions how to cancel it directly? I couldn’t figure out a way to do it online, I do not need a payout of the balance.

@GeekyPete

you can send a cancellation letter to

Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG

Kundenbetreuung

90345 Nürnberg

but the card deactivates itself after a few month if there is no more charging on it.

if you send a letter please mention you name and the address, the mobile phone number and your signature. Your SIM card will be cancelled within 7 days notice.  Within this period  you can charge a credit by bank transfer if you have changed your mind. After 90 days the SIM card will be completely deleted so there is no chance to port the existing phone number any more.
