Wifi Interrupts often

I just wanted to make a complaint about the quality of the service offered by O2. I have 50Mbps Speed but it seems like I am living in 90s (very low speed). Every time when I do video calls (via video apps), the other side will not hear all of the concversation, its interrupted every time.

I call the hotline and one time they suggest me to rename 5G wifi name and othertime to restart my phone which didnt help.

After I rename wifi name, works for a day and again the same problem. As I got this DSL, for the first month was very good and then problem starts. I then send them a letter of cancelation and they said I can only cancle after 24 months. Is this a scam?

I also check https://www.o2online.de/service/netzstoerung/?partnerId=SocialMedia&medium=socialpost&campaignName=CM-Commerce and it says ‘Eine Basisstation in der Nähe meldet Einschränkungen.’ which means there is a problem in base Station , right? How long this Problem will last?

And once in 2 days or so, My router restarts automatically (specially at night 10-11 pm or sometime during mid-day).I already scanned the router with the "o2 DSL Hilfe" app but it couldn't find the problem.

I also read this document but this is just router info. https://uploads-eu-west-1.insided.com/otwo-de/attachment/6fb9f698-27a9-4cc8-b9ae-6cdf50297010.jpg

To be honest, I am really really disappointed  and  fed up with O2 service.

Before I had Vodafone with 16Mbps and was unInterruptible and since I also have O2 mobile, I thought why not to get both from o2 and also there was a small price reduction for mobile customer but now I realize this was a huge mistake and I will be paying for 24 months.

Hello @sANDy1323,

welcome to our community! I have moved your thread to our english board, so other interested customers can find it easier.

I have checked your DSL-connection and didn’t find any problems in the connection. It is connected stably with a bandwidth of 90 Mbit/s. The interruptions due to the 24 hour re-connect are normal. The link for “Netzstörungen” is for mobile connections only, if you have problems with the mobile network of your smartphone or other mobile device.

I suppose that your problem is a local problem with the wifi connection between the router and your device. This can have many different causes.

  1. Channel: When the wifi is set up, a specific radio channel is automatically assigned. If many neighbors use the same channel, this can lead to interruptions or reduced speed. Here changing the channel can help.
The router mode is set to b + g + n for a 2.4 GHz band. For test purposes, try setting the setting only to n or b / g. Support router and end device 5 GHz, then set to ac + n mode for testing. Important: If both a 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz radio network are available, give the two different names or switch off the one that is not required. The radio channel can be set directly in the router menu. The o2 my service app can of course also be used for this purpose.
  2. Location: Placing the router next to the phone socket is not always the best solution. The router's wife range can be improved by a more central location in the apartment. The rule is that the distance from the telephone socket to the router and from the router to the end device should always be as short as possible. In addition, the router should not disappear in the bottom shelf, but as far up as possible, e.g. be placed on the top shelf to avoid as many sources of interference as possible. For optimal wifi reception, the router can also be  hung up vertically. In apartments with several floors place it horizontally. In the case of larger apartments, particularly thick walls or use over several floors, a wifi repeater can help to extend the range.
  3. Other devices: Various devices such as bluetooth devices, microwaves, baby monitors, larger objects made of metal, larger power supplies and computers can impair the wifi reception. The router should therefore not be near these devices if possible. Refrigerators and elevators can also lead to restrictions in the wifi connection.
  4. Please also check if your smartphone/tablet/laptop is causing the problem. Do you have the same problem with other devices too?

Please let us know if you managed to solve the problem or if you need further assistance.

Kind regards

Giulia

@sANDy1323 what o2 Homebox you use? Unfortunately i don’t like the o2 Homebox, because the WiFi is in some cases very unstable.

What you can do. Buy a Fritzbox 7530 (110 Euro) or 7590 (190 Euro) without any branding. You can sell sell the Fritzbox 7530 or 7590 for a good price after 24 months.
Other way you can rent a 7590 Fritzbox for 4.99 Euro monthly on the free  market. (monthly return possible)

Google router and mieten. If you have any questions post here a comment.

If you have an own router don’t forget send back the o2 homebox over the return portal. After returning you don’t need to pay rent for the Homebox.
