Dear o2,

Does the Thomson THG520 modem can be used for O2? Or it should only be the list of :

o2 HomeBox 2 or HomeBox 2 ISDN as well as the AVM Fritz! Box 7490 or the AVM Fritz! Box 7590?

The second question is that how I should install the connection with the modem if my laptop has not have ethernet port? Or has anyone maybe got any idea?

Thank you in advance.

Does the Thomson THG520 modem can be used for O2?

No chance!

We recommend Fritzbox 7530/7590 - depends from your requirements regarding phones and WLAN.

You can connect via WLAN, also before your DSL-line ist active.

The Thomson THG520 is a DOCSIS modem, therefore it cannot be used on o2 (V)DSL connections.

If you are planning to order a VDSL connection from o2, please note that VDSL is realized via the telephone lines and not via cable TV. This means that your house and apartment must be equipped with telephone cables and a TAE telephone socket. This cabling is not the responsibility of o2 and the customer must check that it is in place before placing the order.

In my opinion, a laptop without an Ethernet port is an inferior device that should be replaced with a fully equipped one.

Thank you for your fast response.

My contract with o2 is under o2 my Home M. Beside those recommendations ( Fritzbox 7530/7590), would it also be possible if I use o2 HomeBox 2 (model 6441) as a modem (and router?)?

The second question, 02-DE has appeared in the setting of my mobile data setting. Is my mobile data provider automatically converted to o2? If yes, so from now on, should I just buy ) o2 voucher for my mobile data instead of my old provider?

Thank you in advance

Thank you for the logical explanation!

My contract with o2 is under o2 my Home M.

Please note that quite different products are sold under the name o2 my Home. VDSL routers can only be used if you have ordered a VDSL connection. They cannot be used with products that have been ordered by the customer on a mobile (LTE) or DOCSIS (cable-TV) basis.

o2 Homeboxes are rented by o2 exclusively as a tariff option for an o2 DSL connection and remain the property of o2. If you have obtained an o2 Homebox illegally from somewhere else, it is to be expected that it will not work or not work completely on a different connection.

Thank you for your answer.

So, what would you suggest as the solution for my mobile phone situation? I tried to reach the call center who speaks English but has no luck yet.

If I want to use o2 as the provider for my mobile phone, what should I do?

Thank you

I don't understand your question. Technically, a DSL connection has nothing to do with mobile communications or cell phones.  Ordering an o2 DSL connection does not change your mobile phone at all. Everything remains as it was.

Who is your current provider? Prepaid?

Hello @Arunk,

if you also want to use an o2 mobile connection you can sign an o2 mobile contract 🙂 You will find all our tariffsa we over on our online portal. :-)

If your DSL contract is already activated you can sign in with the credentials that you entered as you registered the contract you can order a new mobile contract and take advantage of the Kombivorteil that offers a discount on your monthly bill :-)

Regards,

Lars
