Termination of my Contract

I recently moved to a new city. In my previous city Hochheim am Main I was using the package 250 L (DSL), however in the new city (Lindlar) they do not have that package. So I terminated the old one and want to switch to fiber optics 300. Any idea how long the cancellation takes? 


Ich bin vor kurzem in eine neue Stadt gezogen. In meinem alten Hochheim am Main hatte ich das Paket 250 L (DSL), in meiner neuen Stadt (Lindlar) gibt es dieses Paket jedoch nicht mehr. Daher habe ich das alte Paket gekündigt und möchte auf Glasfaser 300 umsteigen. Weiß jemand, wie lange die Kündigung dauert? (Google Translated)

Please go to https://router-retoure.o2online.de/start in order to return your router. You will need the serial number, which you can find on the sticker underneath or on the back of the router.

There you can also print a return label or download a mobile parcel label as a QR code. Return shipping is provided by DHL and is free of charge.

Normally, you notify o2 of your move a few weeks before you move. Then it turns out that DSL doesn't work and you immediately receive an offer for a fiber optic contract, if available through o2 at all.

You should ALWAYS notify o2 of a move, because then o2 can determine what it can and cannot offer. Cancellation processing takes time and is first handled as a regular cancellation. Only then is availability checked.

We checked weeks before but they said we can only change or cancel it if we have the registration certificate which we didn't at the time.
Apparently, the living contract wasn't enough for them.

We canceled it giving the reason they can't provide the service we had. We canceled it the day before yesterday.

Does anyone know how long the cancellation process takes? 
I want to open a new contract but the guy at the O2 shop said do it only once you have the confirmation of cancellation.

Do you know beforehand that o2 cannot supply the product? Only then do you have the right to cancel!

Such a process can take 4-6 weeks. Therefore, this should have been initiated before the move. Therefore, the advice is always to place a relocation order in good time.

Also check whether your data in the portal only refers to the new address. Otherwise letters will be sent to the old address and it will take 12 weeks.

Thank you for all the information. I think I will move to another company for my internet since this will take long. I know for sure they have to cancel this contract since they can not provide the services.

Thank you for responding. I will call and check with the O2 staff on Friday, if by than your cancellation department has not decided for our straight forward case, unfortunately I will have to say good bye to you guys. 

If your team could kindly respond soon and than I can immediately open a new contract as you know it takes long for the internet installation process.

maybe you already got the news but to make sure here is your cancellation date. We will finish your contract to August 22nd 2025. You can go an get a new contract by now.
