Hi,

Today I got my O2 DSL connection upgraded from my Home S to my Home L but the speed it very poor. The lineman told me that on my line, I can get upto 250Mbps maximum but when I selected my Home L (100mbps) package this doesn’t work even. The speed that I get is 45.73 Mbps Download and 0.54mbps Upload.

I am very disappointed with these speeds.

@Tauseef What Router you exactly use? How you make the speed check? Over LAN or Wifi?

@Joe Doe I am using fritzbox 7412 as a modem and then I have my own Buffalo WiFi WHR-1166D router which provides 5 GHz (11ac/n/a). I have tested these devices with 1und1 before for a 50Mbps DSL and they work flawless.

Its not about the router or modem or even my macbook, its the poor speed of DSL that O2 needs to rectify.

I have used multiple speedtest websites and they all show similar poor performance. This one is from www.breitbandmessung.de which O2 prefers I think.

@Tauseef You really the Fritzbox as a modem and the dial up over the Buffalo? Are the DSL-ATM settings correct set? VCI 32, VPI 1?

Can you post a Screenshot from Internet/DSL Informationen/DSL? And what firmware have the Fritzbox?

No, I use fritzbox for dial up and all sorts of authentication etc. with O2. I have a Buffalo AirStation placed after fritzbox as my home network gateway only and for high speed wireless access. Buffalo doesn’t do anything with DSL and/or O2.

This only shows DSL line rate/capability 116.8 Mbps which was exactly the same even when I was using my Home S (10Mbps) package until yesterday. This DSL line rate must not be miss-understood as the Internet speed.

and Buffalo AirStation WHR-1166D Version 2.91 (latest). All my devices are after Buffalo.

FRITZ!OS: 06.86

@Tauseef Stupid question. Have you test the speed over the 2.4 GHz WiFi from the Fritzbox? I am really interested in value from the upload.

Yes, that shows same poor results as well. It’s not a problem with my WiFi and/or Buffalo, It’s a problem with the DSL that O2 is providing.

@Tauseef Hmm. Error counter on the tap Internet/DSl Informationen/DSL show no error? Full screenshot please.

@Tauseef Other question. Have you made a completefactory reset from the Fritzbox after switch from 1&1 to o2 or you only change the Dsl Username/Password?

Here it is:

And no, I did not do any reset of frtizbox, why would I need to reset it? Also, it has been working fine with my O2 myHome S for more than an year.

@Tauseef sometimes after switch from my Home s to a higher tariff the old profile was left. Than we customer have 12/2.4 rates. But this is not the problem at your dsl Connection..

I want to escalate it to O2’s technical support but I cannot explain them since I do not speak German. Is there a way that I can get a ticket number via this discussion so that they can debug and fix the problem?

@Tauseef I am speechless. Very good VDSL values. I have no answer why you have this worst values in the upload. (About the download we can speak later) Can you check the speed over LAN directly over the only LAN Port from the Fritzbox?
I can no longer explain your values logically.  Are your values so bad around the clock?  Also very early in the morning?  At the moment it is very difficult to get a technical ticket for this from o2.  You have too good sync values for that.

yes, I have been testing it since morning today and it is like that. I will try to do more tests early tomorrow/sometime.

And yes, I can test it directly at the fritzbox’s LAN port and will share the results. I just need to find out my usb-c to ethernet adapter for my mac.

@Tauseef Did you get a new DSl Username and Password (tariff upgrade) Normally you must get new one.

Nopes, I did not. It is the same username and password that I used to use for S package.

Somehow better today :)

Its usable now

@Joe Doe Thanks for all your support.

Hi @Tauseef

welcome to our community.

I have checked your data. As we changed the plan we just got a VDSL 50000 port instead of a VDSL100000. Maybe the right port was busy at that time. I applied for a change to 13th of August. You will get further information by email. Thanks to @Joe Doe for assistance.

Greetings
