How to know what type of contract I have and how to cancel.

Hello! I’ve been reading a bit regarding the cancellation process of my O2 contract and I understand it depends on the type of contract. I curently live in Bayreuth and due to unforeseen circumstances, I will be moving to Mannheim this month. However, I do not have a defined place of residence yet and this will likely take some time. So, I believe my best option is to cancel this service and afterwards once I’m settled in, review my best options for DSL and Mobile providers in Mannheim.

Since I don’t have clarity on my type of contract, I would like to know what fees would apply in my case and the total amount that I’d have to pay for cancelling. What’s the process?

Thanks!

You can cancel to the end of your contract period of usually 24 month. If you move and cancel, you have to pay all future payments at once, so, better to move your dsl. Mobile is german wide, so you don’t have to quit it.

check last page of invoices for the data of cancellation time.

Thank you for your quick response. I thought I would only have to pay 3 months of the DSL payments if I cancelled in a 24-month contract, or is it all future payments from now until the contract ends?

On the other hand, I would also like to know the process if I were to take my DSL with me. I just disconnect it and take it with me and in Mannheim contact O2 to send me a technician? Or what should be my next steps?

Thanks once again.

3 month only if o2 is not able to install dsl at your new place.

so you have to move the contract with the moving option in meino2 to your new place (get help from a German speaker).

F.A.Q.: I move to an apartment where DSL is already existing - Can I cancel my current contract?

If you have opted for a “Flex” contract (without minimum contract term), you can read the term “flex” in “Mein o2” behind the name of your tariff.

Example:

The tariff name in “Mein o2” reads “o2 my Home M Flex” → flex contract, 4 week notice to the end of a  month

The tariff name in “Mein o2” reads “o2 my Home M” → 2-year term contract, extended by 1 year if the contract has not been canceled with a period of notice of 3 months to the end of the term or the end of the extension period.

You have chosen the contract type yourself when ordering your o2 DSL connection - at o2 you have the choice.
