Hello,

My case number is 142 242.

I ran O2 App speed test many times in the past few days.

I am getting maximum 13 Mbps on a  50 Mbps connection.
I restarted the router everyday but it hasn’t helped.

Please resolve the issue.

Thanks,
Parthasarathy

@Partha what kind of router you exactly use. Did you have ever more than 13 Mbit since you are customer from o2?

Hello,

I am using HomeBox 6441 and my connection is Home M Flex. I have been a customer for the past two years. When I checked speed some 4 months ago it was at 50 Mbps.

Thanks,
Parthasarathy

@Partha two things: 1) Problems with your wifi. Have you checked over LAN too? 2) you have problem with your VDSL port, so you get an emergency profil that you are already online.
You must call the hotline (did you have a German speaken friend?) If you call, never hang up after information about the mein service app and the Computer Voice wish you a nice day. You will get an operator.

Hello @Partha and welcome to our o2 community :-)

If one does not recieve the speed of the DSL connection one is used to there are several possible reasons for hit.s As far as I can see @Joe Doe already provided some tipps regarding this.

How does it look like now? Is your DSL connection up and running with the speed you are used to again? :-)

Regards,

Lars

Hello Lars,

I don’t have a German speaking friend here so I did not call the customer support. Also, I have not changed any wifi settings over months. The internet speed is still quite slow 11.3Mbps. Can you please check  your provisioning systems that all is fine.

Thanks,
Partha

Hello @Partha,

I had a look into this. Everything runs as it should, your router is synced with roughly 100MBit/s.

please check your speed with a LAN connection. Please also make sure that no other device is connected to the router while testing the speed and that no updates, downloads or VPN connections are running in the background.

Regards,

Lars

Hallo Lars,

Thanks for checking at your end. I will try to find a LAN cable first for the test. But is there  something to check in WIFI configuration? Could the router’s WIFI be faulty and does it need to be replaced?

Thanks,
Parthasarathy

Hello @Partha,

there are many possible sources that impact the speed of your wifi connection. Not only does the number oft devices that are connected and transfering daat at the same time have quite an impact, also the number of other wifi networks and wifi enabled devices in the vicinity influence the reachable top speed. A ptrial defect in a wifi module would be extremly uncommon since these are single-chip components where a defect would disable the wifi network completely.

Regards,

Lars

Hello Lars,

I checked download speed with a LAN cable and I am getting about 45Mbps download and 10Mbps upload speed.

I have two Ubuntu based laptops. I had set the router WIFI in 802.11 b/g mode as the connection in 802.11n mode was very unstable for one of my laptops.

Now I have set the WIFI mode again to 802.11 b/g/n and in one laptop I am getting speeds as good as lan cable and the connection is also stable.

But since 802.11n connection on my other laptop has been  unstable in the past I need to check if it is stable now. Is there a fix for instability in 802.11n mode?

Even though 802.11 b/g wifi settings on the router is supposed to give 50Mbps, it is only giving maximum 15 Mbps download and 2 Mpbs upload.

Thanks,
Parta

@o2_Lars Did @Partha have a ADSL or VDSL Port? Unfortunately he can’t see the sync profile at the black hole o2 Homebox. 😗

Hello @Partha,

if you are using a homebox that you recieveds from us the router always recieve to most recent firmware automatically, there is no speciel patch to be installed.

Und some circumstances it may help to give different names to the WiFi networks on 2.4GHz and 5GHz so you can select which frequency to use.

If one device only supports the 2.4GHz range it is possible that this freuqnecy is somewhat overused by other devices in the vicinity. This may be other WiFi router and also other devices that access WiFi networks in the area.

@Joe Doe: I had a look into this earlier, everything is as it should be .-)

Regards,

Lars

Hello Lars,

I am using the Homebox router provided by the company. Thanks for the suggestions I will try them.

I had enabled 5G spectrum in the same Wifi network it appears that the  reliability has imporved considerably since I last wrote.

Thanks,
Partha

I have the same issue in 10407 Berlin, I mean in 2020..

WLAN oder LAN same shit..

o2 is a disgrace to communications worldwide...

@adilette Did we really speak about DSL or Mobile?

@adilette Did we really speak about DSL or Mobile?

the title of this thread is called “DSL speed too slow” and I just wanted to contribute and show people how o2 subjugates the German internet. My LTE phone connection is faster obvs. Any company that offers internet under 20Mbps should be forbidden!

Hello @Partha,

thanks for your feedback, I am glad we could help. If there are furthjer questions feel free to contact us, we will answer as soon as possible :-)

Lars

Hello @adilette,

the speed you recieve with a DSL connection depends on a lot of different factors. If you want, we can have a look into your DSL connection :-)

Lars

Hallo, ich habe eine 100mbs DSL Verbindung bestellt aber habe ich nur ca. 74.5mbs. Warum habe ich nicht die volle Geschwindigkeit oder mindestens 90 mbs ?

@DannySoo What exact router you use? And tested over LAN or WiFi?

I tested this over wifi 5g standard. I use a router from operator o2 homebox 6741.

I have before 1&1 and with the same speed i have 50mbs and i have exactly 49mbs. This is a problem with connection 99%

Test i made with Samsung S20+ And my PC and my wife phone. This is a first thing what i done (connection speed)

I've been very mad of this because i wanna this for what im pay.

@DannySoo Wifi is at the o2 Homebox a little tricky and have sometimes problems to get the full speed.

Because you don’t write it exactly: PC connect over LAN? And did you have the old 1&1 Fritzbox (what model?)

I want to check the line quality over Fritzbox because the o2 Homebox is a blackbox for looking the line quality.

No pc too over wlan i can connect fritz box i have fritzbox without wlan i conectet this modem with asus rt-ac57u (1 gigabit router) and i dont have problem.

But yet i decidet to (rent) o2 router and i dont know this is a good idea. O2 router doesn't have advanced options 😞 i can check LAN connection but later.

@DannySoo o2 Homebox was a bad idea. :kissing_smiling_eyes: An actual Fritzbox 7530 or 7590 would been the better choice.
Especially they have now an international system menu with German, English, Spanish, Polish etc.

I am interested in DSL line quality. Fritzbox -> Internet/DSL Information/DSL

Hi. So today i installed a my old Modem Fritz 7412 and by lan is conected to my brand new asus router. And is really better. Wy better not perfect? Because Fritz 7412 Have max bandwitch to 100mb/s in reality this is 80mb/s not more.

I thinking what i should to do. I wanna have a universal device with very high speed. My asus router have almost everything what i wanna and someone have any idea which modem i should buy? (I have a router)

I have too a different older fritz modem but It does not support the new connection standard. I didn't even know they were being changed so i can use this only as repeater yet.

Here i have a speed test https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/6703389285

here is the old test with o2 box:

Better one ==>https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/6642688955

Daily ===>

 https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/6643660270

This is all the time not this what I wanna have.

The only limitation now is the limit of the modem to 80mb / s (on the box it says that it supports connections up to 100mb / s)

@DannySoo can you post your line parameter please? Fritzbox→ Interent/DSL Informationen/DSL Thanks
