DSL Speed Issue – Lower Speed Than Neighbour

Hello O2 Community,

I have an O2 DSL connection with a plan of 50 Mbps. When the technician came for installation, he mentioned that I live in an old building and therefore the maximum speed I could get here is around 30 Mbps.

However, my immediate neighbour in the same building has the same type of DSL connection and they can get 100 Mbps. This difference has left me confused.

I would like to understand:

  • Could this limitation be due to my specific apartment’s wiring or the overall building infrastructure?

  • Could it be related to how the DSL line is configured by the provider?

  • Is there any possibility to upgrade my speed?

I would appreciate any advice, steps I should take, or who I should contact to investigate this further.

Sieht sehr nach H Schaltung aus, du wirst mit ziemlicher Sicherheit keinen eigen APL haben und mitverfolgt vom Nachbar oder Haus. Dann schaltet die Telekom nicht mehr.

Have you already connected with our technical department via their hotline number 0800 525 1378?

Though at the moment the connection is only possibel in German language. 

They can have your connection checked.

Hey Gerrit,

I have literally tried everything. I spoke to the customer care, they redirected the issue to a technical team, they called me and reset the connection. Once they reset it, the internet works fine for like 2 days and the speed and connection comes back down. My plan is 50mbps and right now im barely getting 10mbps. Please let me know how to cancel my connection.

thank you for your feedback. It's not nice to hear that it only worked for two days and that your internet speed has slowed down again. Your frustration is understandable. Did you report this to the technical support team again, telling them that the problem has recurred?
