DSL Network bandwidth greatly reduced

Hi,

I have an O2 DSL connection with the option “My Home M” activated on it. As per the contract I am supposed to As of late I have noticed a drop in the bandwidth speed. The speed test shows 18-20 Mbps, sometimes even less. I am working from home these days and I use VPNs to connect to my office networks. With a reduced bandwidth the performance is affected and I can’t really connect to some of the applications.

I tried restarting the router/modem many times but didn’t notice any improvement. Could you please check what has gone wrong ?

I hope you have tested via LAN cable and without an active VPN? If not, please make up for it. Reliable tests are https://breitbandmessung.de/ and https://www.speedtest.net/

Tests on connections to the USA have no significance for the DSL connection as such.

For a vpn connection to Los Angeles, amazing!:thumbsup_tone5:

Hi,

This is the test result.

PC connected to the router/modem without any VPN running in the background.

The last test I did was with the LAN cable (no VPN was running). I expected to see a much higher bandwidth but instead, it clocked only 11.52 Mbps

Well, how can you have a speed of 19 Mbit/s to Los Angles but 11.5 Mbit/s to cologne? That does not seem logical to me. For the test you have to stop using the internet connection for any other things.

That's what intrigues me. I had switched of my TV and other connected devices before the LAN test. The laptop I had used for the test didn’t even have the VPN software installed.

I just now installed the O2 DSL service suite.Running the diagnostics now. Will post the results.
